I'm not arguing.
I'm stating fact.

what facts? there is not right and wrong facts to be applied to jumping it is just more opinions.
the only fact that can be applied to jumping is:
What must go up comes down.
and if a person wants to get around or over something, they either
A) walk around B) climb over it C) jump over or on top of it or D) go right through it.
Are we still doing this? Boring.
SE barely cares, and even that's only because the issue is still "alive", or it's the deadest most beaten horse of all time and they're smart enough to feign acknowledgment of your "concerns" as any good company will.
Let it go.
Talk about something else, anything else. The opinions on the subject are so well known at this point further dialog is as bad as the advent of 24/7 news channels. It's that same stupid story about that same stupid thing that's not really newsworthy over and over on the hour every hour for days.
SE will do whatever the hell they feel like doing and they think is best anyhow. Just wait and see. Enjoy the ride.
Enter fantasy game; complain about lack of realism.
You people are an embarrassment.
If you really want Free-Roaming Jump, then make it real.
Make it so that you can slip on the ground, hurt your feet and make a faceplant causing Bleed DoT, so you'll think twice before jumping.
Also, make that every jump causes a loss of Stamina.
Hell, that sure will stop those jumping freaks to jump all day long!
Seems to me like the majority of people who don't want jump are older gamers who want their experience to read more like a book or movie than an interactive experience. The other crowd who does want jump wants to be able to freely interact with the world because they feel it will make the world feel more dynamic.
In my opinion, I think there is a pretty even divide between the typical FFXIV players, breaking it down to its most basic stereotypes there are: long time mmorpg players who see the genre getting "dumbed" down so to speak and enjoy a hardcore, difficult challenge where the learning curve is steep and there is an elite group of people who have spent time researching, playing, and experimenting to be the best. Then there are the people who (stereotypically) are newer to playing mmorpg's and want something that is more of a modern videogame where you can just have fun and jump in quickly.
I think this is why so many of the people who hate the idea of jumping, also hate WoW. They had their glory days with ________ mmorpg and want to build upon that. But like anything, times change.
Also, anyone who pulls the "it's not realistic" card...cmon. I fail to see how people can say it isn't realistic to jump when we have skills where you jump in the air and do a backflip and fire multiple arrows. Stop being so worried that person X might do something that you might not like. A video game is supposed to be a simulation based on a set of rules; a set of rules that also obviously has limitations.
lol ya i got the point haha I was just stating it would of been a great "control" on the stamina part and knew it was joking all the same but just was saying i am sure stamina is going away at least I think? lol >.<
...retarded post. Please DO add it;so tired of people trying to knock down whats just convenient to some because they personally don't want it. (Same as the people running around begging for now mounts; worlds to small. Thats BS I waste far to much money getting around and time.) FFXIV is already different in the mmo world; its being TO different (in a bad way); going against the grain of what typical mmo players look for now that hurt it. The stuff that's just a given... there are areas outside ulduh that dont look like you can traverse but can, then go over to LL and you cant even on the smallest drops...
meant to add...your making a statement about players.... What's unrealistic is not being able to get around areas, or even jump at all. Im a fan off FF not having jump myself; but dont try to spoil it for others because of personal issues...Were trying to fix the game not act like the dinosaur that drove it into the ground.
Why on Gods green earth is this pointless topic resurrected out of the abyss that it finally fell to a month or two ago.
just let cards fall were they do will jump break the game, no. will it fail with out it not really let team do what they wish i just dont think it matter that much it not a maker or breaker of the game
Jumping = WoW..? I dont' think so.. there are many games in which you can jump.. why bringing up WoW..? I never played WoW.. I despise it actually but I want to jump in FFXIV..
Has anyone actually ever looked at the controls? Go look at the controller layout, it's possible to shift keys around to have a free-form jump button, but do you think SE is going to do that? If not and they still want to go for a regular jump button, why would they want the PS3/controller player going to their keyboard to hit space bar every time they jump?
I think this feature might be a emote and nothing more, which isn't what most players want. The ones that want a jump want it like every other MMO out there that has jump.
Hope I'm wrong.
I LOVE IT! Best. Idea. Yet. For. Jumping!!!
WHAT? People that don't want jump just want their experience to read like a book or movie instead of an interactive experience? That's a straw-man, son.
That you're right on.Quote:

Invalid argument.Quote:

The fact is jumping is completely useless outside of some form of contextual style for it, period; even if they implement jumping free-for-all, they still can have those invisible walls preventing you from getting between Point A and B.
Hooray for no jumping!
guiz don't add jumping it is unrealistic ... wait what?
Jumping in 80 Pounds of Chainmail is unrealistic :P
I'm going to stick my position that any Jumping, Jump Based Exploration, or Jump Based System should be reserved for Dragoons, or Chocobos.
Bunnyhopping Lalafells, yes please! :D
LOL. How are we supposed to explore without being able to jump.
Fail game designers.
Some of you dont know how to make games, and it's really sad.
Must we talk about WoW every time jumping is mentioned? Christ. Play some other MMOs please.
Almost all of the people who quit this game already were going "what? you can't jump? what? there's no auction house?" etc. when they bought this game. Why do people on this board seem to want to keep this game as an industry pariah?
No other game's fanbase would complain about these things.
because its "immersion breaking" to be realistic. and "it's not final fantasy anymore when you add jumping" "; ; waaahhh wahhhh, we want to cry because we can't think outside the small secluded box we live in....." those are exactly the reason's why they don't want it... it is dumb and to the people that "there is no need for it because no content for it" thats why you add it so that it may be added why would they have things in the game that require jumping and not implement jumping that is dumb backwater backwards thinking that keeps this game from moving forward. You have to implement changes to add more changes and content... get it through your small, petite, thick heads that it comes with the times... not some old past gen idea's. You all sound like you are stuck in the stone age of gaming industry.
