Rift and Guild Wars 2 says hi :)
Printable View
I played rift... at launch... and it had the same amount of content that ARR has... it just took a bit longer to get there. As far as guild wars 2? Well... before the first content release guess what?? People were complaining that there was nothing to do.... take the blinders off for once.
The content is superb and fun. Sure, the endgame isn't completely fleshed out. But, really, state a single MMO that had a complete, fleshed out endgame on release? Hell, this is the MMO with the most endgame I've seen in ages during the launch period, not to mention with the amount of quality and polish it has. The potential is enourmous, and I get giddy just thinking of all the possibilities there are for this game. I'm in this for the long run :)
It was worth the $30 for a month. It had a opportunity to have me subbing to something great. It's not.
Pathetic server/client positional check discrepancy, loooooooong GCD with loooong character animation on top of it and it's all working as intended.
Here's an example of clunky, loooong character animation. Esuna is what, one second cast time? Then how come right after pressing the Esuna key your WHM will stand there for almost 2 seconds as you mash the Cure spell not doing anything, stuck in this GCD/animation delay. It's a good thing you rarely need to Esuna anyone, cuz you stand there for a good 2 seconds not doing any healing, stuck in this horrible, working as intended clunky state.
I should be able to cast Cure, 1 second after pressing the Esuna key. You know.... like every single other MMO.
2 heals in almost 5 seconds.... What a slow, clunky game.
It's gawd awful.
Working as intended eh? kk, I'm out.
I wish the GCD wasn't as long and that there was more content at endgame.
Other than that I'm very satisfied.
The myth cap is retarded, any cap in general is retarded other than level cap. But other than that I am satisfied.
What they should do is make BCB not have an automatic lockout. They should make it so you can clear it as many times are you want, but you have to full clear it. If you get stuck you can reset it, but can only reset it once a week (at your digression on the day you choose). If you do indeed clear it you can clear it again in the same week. Lockouts should be tied by a session ID to player accounts. So if somone from your Lockout reset's it they become detached from the session ID and the other 7 can still run the lockout. If The guy who resets it runs back into the same lockout they will get a warning "This will reassign you do ID: Blah on Turn 4 for the week, do you want to continue?"
Which is basically how wow eventually handled their lockouts and was awesome imo.
Pretty satisfied so far, although I've been playing on a super slow basis, haven't really made it too far in 2.0.
I'm really excited for future content updates, and what is coming in 2.1. Housing, treasure hunts, and more.
In short, you must pay for over a year to play a decent content when some f2p are updating more frequently. Patch 2.1 should be released weeks ago. I'm no paying a susbcription of 4 or 5$, there are 15$ every month, nowadays it's unfair for an mmo. This game is perfect for Wii users. Only busy fathers and girls can play this game without any kind of stress.
Nope, stopped playing / stopped caring due to the myth cap.
I need my bcnm and main quest scenario missions in party
Or at least duo lol
Fix the server lag issues and I'll be happy.
Don't and I can only assume when my 3 month sub runs out I'll move on, maybe sooner.
I'm 50/50 satisfied.
Some (+) and (-)
+ Graphics are pretty and game runs really well when instanced
+ Music and sound effects are classic FF
+ World and Monsters are cool
+ Dungeons 1-50 are actually pretty sweet (GIVE US HARD MODE OF ALL DUNGEONS FOR PHIL TOMES PLZ?)
+ Enjoy playing the healer class
- Ridiculous amount of grind at lvl 50
- Two dungeons to farm for the necessary Phil and Myth tomes you need
- Server lag is ridiculous sometimes
- Combat is bland and same for most classes. Thank God I'm a WHM
- Skills are very limited and way over simplified
- Most of the community is selfish and only out for themselves (selling Titan HM runs?...what has this world come to...)
- People all look the same at 50, no customization
All in all, this game has a lot of potential but a ton of things need to be addressed before that happens. I'm here until next patch and we'll see...but i find myself wanting to play less and less.
happy with the game, unhappy with a decent amount of the community
Absolutely, and I still have PLENTY to accomplish.
WHM is slightly boring too. I never been bored of a healing class in my life. This is a first. I'ma go SCH and see if anything different...
I like flashy cool things.
Like an Angel or something to come out of your AOE heals, or you're praying to heal or something. All heals and stances are the same. I hate how we cast too, looks like we're having a seizure in mid-stand.
The skills in this game or super boring to look at. The only one worth looking, and not much, is MNK's.
The only super cool thing we have is the 3rd LB which you will rarely ever use is that Aerith/Aeris staff comes down and you pray and heal and revive.
We lack a lot of skills imo. :/
Cross-class skills are boring too. I wish combat was a little more "Wow!" Not the game...just like Wow this is fun!
Holy is the only skill that's fun to use because it's different, Divine Seal looks cool too, Benedection is pretty neat. All Cure's and Medica's look the same.
Medica 3 is Divine Seal look hovering over you with regular Medica action. The Combat went a major step-backwards.
Game has plenty room for improvement because it's pretty barren as it stands. All in due time, I hope.
Untill you reach endgame with your first class this game is amazing, but the moment you start grinding for the endgame gear and grinding fates to level your other classes, this game becomes more of a chore and not a game. Personaly, I would have been satisfied if we had frontlines (assuming this is the same type of RvRvR combat style as GW2) at launch and mini-games.
PROS:
- The graphics for this game is pretty.
- Amazing soundtrack.
- Character is able to play as different classes on one character.
- Gear and weapon design is pretty.
- Main quest is enjoyable.
- Class quests, side quests are fun to read and quests dont feel like I am grinding.
- Gathering and crafting is fun.
CONS:
- Endgame farming is a big grinding experience.
- Leveling other classes is boring, because the best way to level is to fate grind.
- If you have done the main quest then you can not level via questing for the other classes.
- Aside from grinding dungeons for the cap and leveling other classes, there is nothing else to do.
- World feels dead, there is no life in Eorzea.
- FATES while fun at first gets dull very fast and there is no lasting consequences for failing a FATE (like with GW2 or RIFT).
- Combat is bland.
- Animation should have been different for races and genders.
I wish SE had released this game next year or atleast in the spring of 2014, because this game would have been amazing, if they had housing, frontlines, the chocobo barding, mini-games etc all at launch. The fact that alot of players have cancelled their subscriptions, because of lackluster content after reaching endgame shows that SE should have waited with releasing this game. The good thing about MMORPG is that content can be added, so I hope that SE adds these contents fast so we can all enjoy this amazing game.
To answer your question. No, I am not satisfied.
I think the game is okay. Initially, I really digged this game when it first came out in August - particularly for Phase 4 and release time. After playing awhile, however, I can see why some players aren't too content after reaching level 50.
Existing weaknesses:
- FATE grinding is just boring
- Duty Finder queues times still remain ridiculous.
- Community and in-game jerks (of course, this is unavoidable in any game lol)
- End-game armor designs - melting pot? Everyone looks the same after 50
- Lack of end-game dungeon variety. Running the same thing x amount of times is definitely entertaining!
- Myth tome caps? Just seems like an obvious poor way of retaining subscribers, notably the hardcore players. It's also another obvious way for the DEV team to get more time to make changes that are affecting end-game complaints currently.
I am hoping that this game will not end up like TERA in a few months. That game started off as overhyped only to become a ghost town after 3 months of its release. It also eventually became F2P in order to get players back...
I love this game. Everything from the storyline to the battle mechanics and the crafting I enjoy and I always have something to do. The art in the game is top notch as well I just wish I had a better rig to play it on.
The game has work to be done but I am enjoying the content and spacing it out accordingly to enjoy all aspects. I am in no rush nor do I have a large magnitude of hours to dedicate. I spend roughly 3-4 hrs a day on the game and its devinitelyworth my money
Music - Definitely FFXI. I find FFXIV annoying i.e Titan fight until phase 5, LL music, Udlah elevator music that puts me to sleep, etc.
Zones - Definitely FFXI - more diverse and there were reasons to go out and explore them.
Content- Again FFXI - A lot more variety rather than instances.
Cross class/subjobs - FFXI.
Convenience - FFXIV
I enjoy ffxiv for what it is but its no where near as deep as ffxi. Hopefully it gets better.
FFXI is still up? Why don't I go there?
2003-2009 era FFXI is not still up. Otherwise, I'd be there.
Not sure I understand the constant comparison of FFXI and FFXIV. They are two totally different games and are meant to be. In fact FFXI is still up and running, pay to play and has new content being released. Why would SE put a carbon copy of a game they already have they are still trying to keep/sell subs on?
I was reading somewhere about private servers for FFXI. There are a few out there that have everything working to the end of CoP. The individual that runs it said he always gets a lot of interest and then people join and they last a week before dropping out. I loved FFXI, and in many ways I wish XIV would take more ideas from it, but I do not think I could do FFXI again.
I think ARR could do with
1. Daily Open world Heroics akin to SWTOR -> basically 1-4 players tackle a FATE or other openworld instance by themselves (in SWTOR basically some caves/buildings were unlocked only when quest was active, and you go in and clear it, would only be a room or two and not take that long, but it broke the monotony of soloing) (at the present time FATE is too much like running a steamroller over a mouse...)
2. Dynamis because <3
3. NPC/World activity tied to the game clock -> We already have high tier nodes tied to the game clock, so why not tie NPC activities to the clock too. Its strange NPCs are there day and night, and theres nothing really unusual to wait for. No caravans going about etc.
4. Depth to skills and combat.
- I don't really *feel* the difference between using attack1 over attack2 or debuff1 over debuff2 for example
- I know Jobs are "specs" but they don't feel vastly different
- In addition, even though we technically have "specs" in Jobs, I feel we are also missing "Stances". We have a very light sprinkling of stances, such as clerics stance. But compared to games like SWTOR which has 3 specs per class, it also has numerous stances within some of those specs to even further specialise.
I look forward to logging in everyday after work, so yeah, I'd say I'm happy. I think I'm not burned out yet because I haven't stepped foot in Coil. I've just been leveling other classes and then working towards getting them better gear and relics.
So did I, and still do from time to time.{both games} Both had way more content than ARR has{including what 2.1 will offer} and their update schedules have not only been frequent but have also been chock full of additional content.
The rushers will never be pleased, there never is enough content for them...
Plus neither of these developers requires us to regularly beg for basic MMO features like SE has been doing! And ignoring, deflecting and outright saying certain features are impossible to code...le sigh
In short, I am satisfied with this game for now. The game will evolve with time. Anyone who thinks that this is the end of the road isn't thinking far enough ahead.
The ride from Open beta of 1.0 all the way through until the servers went down was an interested ride, very rough at first, but around the 1.2 point, things started getting fun and there was plenty to do. Being as though this game just relaunched, I'm pretty sure there are plenty of things on the way; however, there are issues that have to be ironed out first which throws a monkeywrench in the timeline.
Either way, I'm satisfied because I know the game will change over the course of a handful of weeks.
I am satisfied and I feel my monthly fee is getting me its value in time.
It will likely keep me busy until EverQuestNext comes out.
If we're doing comparisons... trying to play FFXI well after it launched, on my own, was a horrible, horrible experience. Seemed I needed a group for most the content, but since I was new/didn't know where to look I was looked down upon for asking simple questions. I realize that's the fault of the community and not necessarily the game, but it left a really bad taste in my mouth, and I didn't play the game long.
This I am satisfied with as far as launch goes. There are some things I hope they improve upon, and at least one thing I consider game breaking and hope they'll fix (positional check every .3 seconds isn't acceptable). Other than that though, it has kept me entertained and interested more than many other MMO titles I've tried out in a long while. I'm willing to stick around and see what future patches hold.
I love the game. I love the story and the casual nature of it. I hate hardcore speed players. I hate people who find it necessary to try and ruin the fun of others. I hate mean-spirited people.
I love it.
Hands down best game of the past 5 years. EQ was the best from 99-04. WoW was 04-09. Nothing has been good since BC WoW....FFXIV is great in almost every facet.
I'm enjoying it... but it's too dumbed down and childish for me.
I'm gonna stick around, see how it evolves but it really isn't what I was expecting from the reboot.
I wish the community was a little more elitist. For example, it's frustrating that mages find their way to Coil without having the self-respect to do basic stuff like pick up Swiftcast.
I do like the game, though. The only structural thing I'd change that the devs haven't alluded to is FATE grinding as the only viable XP mechanism.
I'm dreading endgame because everything I hear in every topic including this one is gloom and doom, but...
So far? It's been one hell of a game.
Game lacks ATM but come 2.2+ it will be great.
That's the point of an mmorpg. You play together with other people. Modern mmorpgs have ruined what it meant to be an mmo. You can do almost everything in this game solo. Why not play a single player game at that point? It seems people today just want some Diablo clones with a chat box.
FFXI was a near perfect experience at NA launch. And CoP made it pure perfection.
This game will probably doing much better if people stop attempting to shift into a WoW clone. No offense, but even for WoW, Catlaysm and Pandaria is just plain suck. The only worth mention expasnion is TBC only. Less bend over the so called "casual playing" is better.
