Yes, because the company behind TSW, Funcom, is a so much better company. They certainly showed how good of a company they are with how they handled Age of Conan.
Yessss, you are so right, FUNCOM is so much better than SquareEnix.
Lol neither was wow a month after release
I still have 11 days left until I need to sub, I think I have decided I will give them just 1 month of my sub pay , and if its still the same ol same if not worse.. I will have to bow out.
There are three main reasons I won't be bothering with this game for a long time, if ever.
• First and foremost, and this is the most important, I just don't find the game that fun. I wasn't able to make it past level 39 in a combat class because I just found combat to be way too boring, I can't really do tab targeting anymore. I was hoping crafting and gathering would interest me at least since I was mainly a crafter in Runescape about 8 years ago, but they didn't offer me much of a reprieve.
• The community is really bad. I'd heard about how the Final Fantasy community is one of the best, but I have yet to see any of it. Of course there are good members, this is true of almost any community, but the overall tone is volatile and hateful. From witch hunts over RMT, to rudeness in endgame dungeons, to the 'go back to WoW' xenophobic attitude many of the players exhibit, it's honestly shaping up to be one of the worst communities I've ever seen.
• Square Enix's poor treatment of the RMT issue and those affected by the blanket suspension. Obviously I wasn't personally affected by this, I'm neither max level nor have I even logged in in over a month, but the lack of a response over a blanket suspension and blanket seizure of legitimate assets is just leaving a bad taste in my mouth. This is the first thing I tell to anybody who asks me about FFXIV, not that there have been many.
i have subbed, but i will stay with only 50000 peeps the next months CAUSE
- If you players like asian grindfests, stay, but you,
the company, wont have a long-range success
- For many people the solo instances and the instances are too difficult,
laugh if you want but it is so, and these people dont write in forums
- Hardware crashes, lags, no servers in europe, producer letters in japanese language:
all these probs tell me: Hey, i want to be a niche product.
- The Devs stopped to do enough quests between lvl 40 and 50
- dictation with the storyline into dungeons wont work in 2 years, noone will do the dungeons
- Endgame boring grind is 1992 everquest, not 2013
I am not subbing for most of the reasons Evilchakra pointed out.
The game has become a race. A race to go nowhere. It's not even fun. just over a month into the game and a good portion of the server already has Relic+1's. This is a MMO, I thought things like that were supposed to be difficult. There is nothing difficult about this game. If you have the fortitude to mindlessly grind the same content 5 times a day for weeks on end then this is the game for you.
I just finished storyline two days ago. I see a guy shouting for Prae runs and tell him I am new and asked if I can join. His response : "How many pieces of DL do you have?" What? You don't need DL to run Prae.
The people on this game are the worst.
Here is a tip for the assholes who think the Duty Finder is for finding speed runs. IT'S NOT! You want speed runs then join the 100's of shouts for them in RT. New people to instances want to watch cut scenes.
When I see someone bitching at a guy for wanting to watch cut scenes I then start watching the cut scenes too.
PS3 lag makes it next to impossible to play at an optimum level.
Lag and people. That is why I am not paying to play this game.
I stupidly purchased a 60 day game time card, so i'll wait that out, after i wont sub, too much gating of the story with Forced Dungeons (which requires dealing with scum all the time in Duty finder) our FC is tiny and the delay with AoE/Aussie ping is completely game breaking for me. Plus the community its mostly the pits..
Very generic mmo experience and the most boring crafting in the universe as well didn't help. oh and Grind grind and more grind, no way.
Unless all that changes in 60 days sorry SE i'll be gone, three of my friends have left already due to the opening server fiasco too..
I've noticed this myself. People attitudes seemed to be pretty welcoming at launch, but when you get to the later content and the difficulty curve goes up, people are outright disgusting to each other at times. I had some of the worst experiences with the last two storyline missions and some of the primal fights, more so than any MMO I've played up to this point. In one of the 8 man missions, it was nothing but an hour of people insulting eachother, name calling, criticizing peoples gear, peoples' names, telling people to skip cutscenes and watch them later, and others running ahead and leaving us newbies lost, then complaining that we were lost. Even so, I trudged through it hoping to reach greener pastures, but I was left with was a grindfest and a very off-putting community. Still, there are a few nice people I've met along the way, and with some quality of life improvements I would still consider subbing. As it stands, the thought of logging in to fate grind or tombstone farm is repelling enough to not want to play at all, at least for me.
I'm really sorry for the lot of you that have game-breaking ping issues and that were affected by blanket rmt bannings that seems to have punished alot of innocent players. This is something that I would expect from the people running Final Fantasy XI, but not this particular dev team. Just goes to show that their automated tracking systems aren't infallible, and should never be a deciding factor when it comes to banning, as legitimate players can and will be affected. As for the ping issues, I have a 70ms ping and it's still not quite good enough to avoid "instant" hit/kill moves. Trust me, if you're going to integrate twitch response abilities in a game, you want to ensure that the player base has access to servers with less than 50ms response times. I still can't avoid some enemy abilities unless I'm moving long before I see the ground light up. I don't even want to imagine what it's like to be playing with upwards of 300ms.
I get that day grinding is good xp. I don't get why people feel like they need to grind it over and over again till their face is blue. Were not racing to L50 guys. Its a game
Day = fate.
while i have subbed and enjoy the game the shear amount of people doing teleport hacks is making me lose faith in SE.
people that have been reported by many times by diffrent people and a week later there still there teleport hacking away gives the impression that SE dont really care.
a week after being reported for teleport hacking and there still doing it. its not like the investigation would take long.
quite simple really player abc at location (x,y) moved 100 meters in a millisecond clearly hints at cheating lets observe this play in game, confirmed as hacking = ban
Haven't decided yet, but so far, my complaints are the following:
-Endgame is very grindy, which is surprising after Abyssea in FFXI.
-Tail clashing with robes on Miqo'te gets annoying and with other graphical limitations it makes me wonder if PS3 limitations are the new PS2 limitations.
-After hitting 50, I don't have much to do besides dungeons, and Culinarian seems to not be good for making money.
-Gathering classes level insanely slow without levequests, and Fisher isn't interactive enough.
-RMT harassment gets quite annoying.
-Being a DPS kind of sucks sometimes due to DF taking 30-40-50 minutes or more to finally get into a party, which can end up where you might lose or someone trolls the party and thus I simply don't have enough time to do dungeons as a DPS with these long wait times.
-FATEs don't drop anything worth much, it'd be nice to see Notorious Monsters.
-Most of the gear in this game is practically identical, and it gets rather old wearing the same stuff.
Currently not subbing as I can't work out where to get time etc, I've heard some places are cheaper than others etc.
On a side note, if they buffed dungeon exp instead of fates, you'd lose the casuals I reckon. I'm a casual and the idea of doing a dungeon is off putting to me, there is too much argy bargy, arguing, you should spec this and that. I avoid dungeons where I can and prefer grinding fates or killing random mobs. It is less pressure, I can just drop in and out, chat with friends on FC etc without having to worry about wiping.
And for peeps who say, oh you'll have to grind dungeons eventually, I say to them, I doubt it, it isn't something I enjoy so I wouldn't bother. Saying that, plenty of peeps are lvl 50...with some legendary..hard more..ifrit things? I'm lvl 30 and go at a slow pace :P
I get way too much server lag from my location (Arizona)
RMT, hackers, and botters continue to run rampant while they go and suspend a bunch of legit players and take almost all of their money
Not much to do at end-game
I might come back to the game later down the line and see if things have improved but for now I won't be missing it too much.
I liked the game but i am torn on a few points, first i hate the idea of forced dungeons to run the main storyline. Don't get me wrong i like doing dungeons but i hate being that forced. Lack of quests bugs me as i am a quester i love to do every quest i can find its my fav way of leveling. In other mmo's you have so many quests you could work on them for months and months and still have more to do. In FF 14 it feels like there are only a few quests and they ran out fast.
I also hate instant death effects at high lvl, whats the point of having all kinds of gear and powers to die instantly if you get hit but a boss effect. Bad move imo
So i may turn my account back on thinking about it now or i may just check out some other MMO's and wait for something else.
Well, I haven't subbed yet because Square Enix won't take my money. :/
Way too easy.
Too kiddy ish. (Example: Not being able to whisper while in dungeon)
The server delays.
Combat system is awful.

Im not subscribing anymore because of this.

While I am legacy and sticking around for my FC, this is the biggest gripe for me. The game 1-50 feels very beta-ish with no real point to anything prior to endgame. That's resulted in the community taking a race to no where fast.
It feels a lot like SWTOR where you have so many zones/planets for 1-50 but once you have hit 50 (well 55 now in SWTOR) theres no reason to go back to them and you just end up repeating the few same dungeons over and over.
And if you guys think thats these problems are ones that only english players are complaining about, have a nice stroll to the japanese forums and let your google translate do the talking.
Something needs to be done about BOTS, NOW.
Something needs to be done about more content, and NO im not talking about more raids, thats just a cheap way of doing content, its a damn skinners box.
Spammers too, this is getting old.
Need more viable ways of getting gil. (sick of farming fleece just to see everyone's doing it too)
Lots of straws are being added to the pile.
Edit: Got another straw to add, apparently they think this is an advertisement front now too, and cant think up any new lore for this original IP. A "lightning" fate? Really? GG advertisement.
I'm subbing but there are a few things I wish they would fix ASAP
1: All gear should by dyeable except artifact armor
2: Dungeons should give more exp than fates
3: There should be more servers in actual NA, EU, JP, etc
4: The game should offer a built in Ventrilo/Mumble/RaidCall/TS client of some sort so people can connect to voice chat on PS3/PS4.
5: Low level non story quests should reset for new classes
6: When on a low level class you should only see low level quest markers, being able to accept a level 45 quest on a level 10 is annoying and confusing.
7: Dailies need to come out ASAP
8: A reliable gil fountain should be made. E.g. in Wow you could make 200gold a day+ just doing all your dailies which would be about 200,000 gil in FFXIV.
If there is a reliable gil fountain in the game that doesn't force players to rely on the AH and peoples starting gold then they're will be less people buying Gil and RMT demand will plumit.
Secondly, things should npc more than 1 gil, seeing stuff on the ah for 1 gil is rediculous. Because nothing npc's for anything there are no farming markets aside from Fleece.... You have this huge open world for us to explore, and once we are 50, there is Zero reason (aside from farming fleece) for us to go anywhere other than Toll..
Oh and world boss fates like Odin/Behemoth.....
These fates are so bad.... Everyone complains that only 50's should be killing them, but there isn't very much incentive for a 50 to kill them. The gear you get from behemoth is worse than AK gear and barely better than AF (normal), and the gear from Odin isn't any better.
The world needs people to collect trash, but if the job pays the lowest amount possible, no one's going to do it.
I subbed 6 months, changed it to 3 then changed it to 1 month.
The reasons are simple. There is really not much to do. I got a crafter and gatherer to 50 and there is simply no point to make another one, I would dare say there is not even a point in having one of these in the first place. Then I got my 2 healers to 50 with full DL and relics. Now what do I do with them between weekly raids ? Well I sit in MD and read the chat... I helped quite a lot of Titan and Garuda groups for fun, but those short fights get boring quick. Maybe I could level something else, even if I don't need it at all or don't enjoy other roles, but then I'd spend hours mindlessly fate grinding...
I mean when I log in and think about what I can do as 50,l I'm pretty restricted. Each week I login to do Coil then I fill my weekly ToMs. Then... I don't know...
The only reason I subbed was because I feel like I need to do the weekly Coil for a chance to get 90 gear while waiting for 2.1 with hopes that it will bring something more to the table.
Fucking 401.
I wont be resubbing because:
1 = Endgame is awful.. Just grind grind and grind.
2 = The community at endgame is awful
3 = Levelling from 1-50 is far to EASY
4 = Lag in instances is terrible causes many people to rage.
5 = Levelling another class after your first 50 consists of mostly fates ( gets boring fast!)
There are more points I could add but I could go on for a long time.. I don't think its worth a resub.. I guess I'm back to searching for "another" MMO
Endgame being awful, I don't see as a reason to not sub. We knew going into launch that endgame wasn't coming out till november. Therefore any endgame currently in place is a grind on prupose to drag it out as long as possible until 2.2 comes out. People basing their sub on that should have just waited till October to start playing then they'd have a free month into the release of 2.2
I have subbed but I log in a lot less now and these reasons are because...
- FATEs are tedious and overcrowded
- Long dungeon queues
- Lack of group content in the public world
- Mob farming ineffective
- Very little social interaction outside of Free Companies
I love Final Fantasy but this game is lacking what I am looking for at the moment.
I FATE grind new classes when on my workout bike. I can do about 2 hours of pedaling for cardio, and in that time, I can macro my fate group spam and keep an 8 party team going. I just run in barely paying attention, get my gold medal, and move out.
I refuse to grind AK or CM, because its SO boring. I did AK 4 times, and said no, I'm not doing this another 56 times. Fuck this, give me new content in 2.1. For now I'll just play the non demanding part.
I haven't really decided yet if I'll give it another month but it's not looking likely right now. Knowing what end game is like I am purposefully delaying reaching that point. It kinda works but sadly leveling all the different classes is just as tedious. I get the idea of having all the classes in one character instead of a bunch of alts. It's a solid design but unfortunately they have managed to make leveling your alt classes even more boring than leveling was in the pre quest era of MMO's. FATE farming is just on a new level of awful when it comes to leveling.
Not Subbing.
-Inability of SE to take care of RMT shout when they are so obvious.
-Inability of SE to respond at all when you report BOT Mining, move hack etc.
-Crafting have absolutely no use except if you buy gil from RMT an get the side grade ARMOR from it.
-Economy is a wreck, Market Board is the worse crap i ever saw in MMO. (Should at least have a 10% FEE just to modify the price)
-The lack of KICK BUTTON in DUTY (too many player end up griefing or AFK)
-Many of friend ended to play on a different server due to 'SERVER FULL' in EA... and i have to pay to join them now, NO THANKS.
-Best Reward are from QUEST GRINDING, and when you done with that part, is GRIND (Garuda HM) (Ifrit HM) (TITAN HM) Prae, CM, Coil etc.)
-Unable to talk to friend when they in dungeon, conversation is brutally interrupted.
-90% Materia have no use...
-Lack of balance in DPS job and Tank job.
-Dungeon CS interruption none stop + Random CS aggro.
Tbh, i should just list the good part of this game instead, that be quicker.
-Graphic are nice.
Ok, done.
Done all the content pretty much.
Full darklight and relic+1
Up to Turn 5 in Coil
50 Bard, White Mage, Paladin, Goldsmith and Miner
Besides I could use a break. You kind of get sick of a game after playing it for over a month straight.
My reasons:
- Game plays like a bulky, even more simplified version of WoW
- Gameplay is repetitive even by MMO standards.
- Lack of any substantive lore
- Story is boring
- poor design (constant cut scenes mid-battle, no ability to vote kick jerks, no way to easily mute people, poor user interface)
I'm subbed for a few months and I'll give 2.1 a shot but unless things get way better I'm probably just gonna end up jumping ship.
The game is out a month, who can come out with a game like this and have constant content so fast, have a little courtesy and faith, ya know? When I picked up FF11 I was kinda let down but it grew rapidly like a chia pet on roids, just give them a chance, I mean you spent money on the game right? It's at least worth waiting a little longer I mean what's 10-15$ anyway? A nice breakfast or dinner?
Just lost interest. Maybe I am oversaturated with MMOs. Could not even level up to 50, as leveling in this game is boring as hell. Had more fun leveling in The Secret World, for example, where quests are more interesting and you actually have interesting text to read ;)
Fighting system was not impressive, and overall the game was too much "been there, done that". It's a good MMO, but after hearing that endgame is just silly dungeon grind, it just turns me off.
I enjoy a crafting system that makes a real difference and gives me cool stuff and satisfaction. That I do not see here.
Overall, there is just not enough to keep my attention, and it just bores me.
Hex Alpha starts this week, I will be quite busy playing that and Frozen Synapse. I also need to merge Skyrim mods, as I have reached the mod limit and there is still so much to do :D
TLDR: The game fails to attract my attention as it offers nothing besides "been there, done that". Will enjoy other games.
I didn't subscribe.
Reasons:
Not enough quests.
Jobs are the same not enough specialisation/customisation at all.
Server latency issues where people are out of the ring and still get hit.
Those are the main reasons I didn't sub, everything else was great but unfortunately feel short for me.
I think people subbing are doing it for the future and potential. In its current form without improvements people will leave, and you cant blame them. The game has charm, but it doesnt feel like 2013 mmo. In some aspects its stuck in the pre WoW everquest era, and even crap like Lineage 2 does a lot of things better. Love the game, but improvements and content need to come ASAP.
