Also, there should be bonus rewards for offering high quality items (and thus likewise give the gatherers incentive to try and collect HQ materials).

I knew that, but forgot it already. Hopefully they have the concepts for those "events" not thrown out of the window.
If we gather enough opposition and good ideas we might be able to see them sometime i the future.
Yoshi made a post, long time ago, where his concerns have been: a crafter sitting on the floor waiting for the gatherer/fighter to bring him material --> boring gameplay
If we find some activities and solutions everyone would be happy about or could live with we were a step further.
Though I'm not at "end game" crafting yet, I would rather see a mix of the following :
1. Lower tome cost
2. Lower crafting requirement for the items purchased with tomes (example of lowering the cost of 9 to 5)
3. Introduction of harvesting node(s) found only in the high level dungeon/raid content
4. Materials purchased by tomes have a chance to drop from "trash" mobs in high level dungeon/raid content
And introduce a new dungeon "Mary had a little lamb...of horror." Gathering type dungeon for fleece, diremite web/sinew, and hippograph sinew (or any other crafting item that is overly farmed on limited mobs).
I'll edit my post. By materials, I mean the crafting materials only purchaseable with tomes. Changing jobs may (or may not) be possible down the line. I'm not an armchair developer so I won't pretend how easy it would be to implement.
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Won't and maybe shouldn't work because you can't change your job.
4. That is already the case. Just look Toto Rak. Ok humanoids only drop gil, that's maybe why you miss drops.
Cool dungeon idea. :)
I hope they also add crafting/gathering FATEs as well. These could even spawn in towns. I have no idea how they'd work, but they could be cool if Square Enix was creative with it.
This sounds amazing! I would have so much fun doing that! /bump for support! and a (+1) to you sir!
