Skip Darklight?

I really dislike the DL armor look.... I mean... really.

Personally, the problem I have with the crafted gear is the sheer number of Tomestones that are required to make each piece. Astral Braclets are really nice, but they require about 2,000 tomestones to craft. That's a whole lot of dungeon grinding for bracelets....

If you do some maths you can see that the AK Armor + the helm for Mythology points = more MND.
You're a healer. You want MND.

What I did was get all the Phylosophy Jewelary first while farming AK.
AK will give you a decent enough set to do your first Primals.
While farming AK/CM you'll get tons of tombstones anyway, save them up.
Once you got enough points to buy the Mythology Helm, buy it.
Keep your AK armor, and replace the rest of AK items with PT bought items until you can upgrade them aswell.
After that I would personally just save up and buy the armor for 825 PTs, complete my relic quest preferably before that, then move on and buy the rest of the gear I need and then get the +1 onto my weapon!

Going from memory here so it may be off but with the Vanya robe melded to it's stat caps you get:
20 MND
20 VIT
20 Det (1 Det IV)
24 Crit (3 Crit IV)

Versus AF2:
29 MND
29 VIT
26 Piety
24 Spell Speed

They are incredibly powerful pieces of gear and the head, body and hands can be crafted at a 100% HQ rate by someone who knows what they are doing.

Af2 is waaay better then vanyas due to the big difference 9 mind makes to whm healing compared to the other stats which per point do not effect healing as much. An extra 9 vit is also useful to have.

Thats funny that some people say skip the DL body. The DL body from the looks of it(I may be wrong, correct me if I am) has the biggest jump in stats of any of the pieces. On my server, I see almost every healer now thats running AK, getting the robe first. Wonder why that is?

I have 2k Tomes saved up, just waiting to pull the trigger on what class I want to gear up. Summoner(which I probably wont due to not liking the class cause of terrible dmg and boring gameplay) or Scholar(Love the support faeries group buffs, amazing effects on them) Or another dps class like a BLM if my Free Company needs more dps.

Though an HQ vanya with the right meteria can be just as good or better then the DL body... and you don't get into that odd stage where you have enough myths to buy the AF +1 body but then you don't have a head piece because well that stupid DL body is both body and head. You would either need to keep a stratego hat on hand or a vanya hat or just not use the AF +1 body/head until you can buy the next part... which is just crappy.

I am no weaver, and ff14 DB does not show the tome price of the Vanya gear.
Could someone please tell me how many Tomes will I need? Maybe I can find a nice crafter that won`t charge a lot of gil? (any other tips will help, not sure if my gear is visible to you guys)

Summoners don't do good damage at all, they currently parse buggy and do more damage on parser than they actually are in game. SMN's aren't hard to play by any stretch, just very low damage.
