Bahamut Lair gear equal to Mythology gear?

While I see your point, I don't think this specific case is that bad. It's not something that we should expect on next patches (newer content with weaker gear), and even the best of the best will not be fully geared with better gear than what's available on Crystal Tower before it's release unless some FCs are dumping every piece of Allagan gear on a single player.

It's not optmal, that's true, but it's not something that's supposed to always happen, and very few players, if any, will actually fully outgear Crystal Tower before 2.1.

Since when did becoming elite become a bad thing? I mean seriously.. The best gear should be the hardest to get.. If you can't get it then you're not good enough for it.. Saying that someone is an elitist for doing the hardest dungeon and winning and have awesome gear to show for it is a compliment to me.. And it should make you strive to be a better player and get better gear.. Just handing gear to everyone makes it seem like everyone is entitled to it and that skill plays no factor in the quality of gear you have..

BC is there for the hardcore people, nothing wrong with that. There are tons of people though that are still rocking full time af, plenty still that are leveling jobs or struggling with primal fights. I've been spamming Ifrit trying to get his sword for the last few days as most pugs simply don't have the dps for garuda. The shear number of people with awful weapons or gear is astounding, and I've been asked often enough where some of my gear comes from (AK).

Honestly I think Crystal tower, if it comes out in the next 2 months or so will probably land just about right for a good portion of the player base. That is, the more casual portion of the player base that isn't moving through content as quickly. Is it strange that the tougher dungeon came out first? Kind of, but kind of not. This is an atypical launch as the playerbase already contains a portion of players that have the gear to push ahead without CT.

This is disappointing, token gear shouldn't be as good as dungeon gear of the same ilvl.

Elitism it self is not the bad thing, it's the people who think they are better then everyone else, heavly flaming anyone who does not have the same gear/skill level. and telling people they suck because what they are using is not to their approval even tho the person in question is doing perfectly fine, it's why the term elitism is used in a bad way because majority of these ass holes are the cause of giving it a bad name.

Sometimes, however. people tend to throw the term around loosely without understanding it. elite is just a term for being the best of your class/role, but even then that's subjective depending on the person. But the mentality is there, they think they are the best, so everyone else can never be good enough.

I think my message is getting lost. It's not fact that a tougher dungeon has been released before an easier dungeon. Its that right now you can get gear that is on par with the best gear in the game by running lower level dungeons over and over again. Those dungeons should never provide raid content gear as a reward, no matter how many times you run them. AK should provide gear/tokens that caps you at the ilvl appropriate with the difficulty of that dungeon (ilvl60). The fact that you can run AK and get ilvl90 gear (bahamut lair level) is just wrong and should be addressed.

The secondary point is a concern that by running AK over and over, you can get gear that is better than an unreleased raid that will launch in 2 months.

I hope this discussion does not become an elitist vs non elitist thread. We already have one of those :) I'd like the discussion to stay on the original topic :)

They should have iLevel restrictions for the HM Dungeons to prevent leechers.

so basically you'll still need Crystal Tower gear to tackle Bahamut Lair, as you are definitely won't have a complete mythology gear at the time
except if you want to farm AK for another 1-2 months
moreover, not all people have the time to farm mythology gear
get Crystal Tower gear or farm mythology gear, it's a choice
