Highly unlikely, given the fact Minfilia was actually Ala Mhigian and was first seen as a child in the original version 1.0 Ul'dah story with her father Warburton (who was killed during the 1.0 Ul'dah story, thus rendering her an orphan.) Also Minfilia isn't even her real name (her real name is Ascilia).

My guess is that sometime after the events of the 1.0 Ul'dah story (which actually took place sometime around the year 1662 of the 6th Astral Era - the original 1.0 starting city stories were basically almost entirely Echo visions), when she first realized she had the Echo, she changed her name and ended up in Sharalyan in an attempt to find out exactly why she was having these strange visions, where she encountered Louisoix and the Circle of Knowing, who encouraged her to found the Path of the Twelve, a place of research of the Echo while also providing a sanctuary for those awoken to it (Minfilia's meeting with Louisoix and his connection to the founding of the Path was confirmed on the official website as part of the Rising event last year) .

The Path much later amalgamated with the remaining members of the Circle to form the Scions of the Seventh Dawn following Lousiox's disappearance during the Calamity.

It's entirely possible therefore that during this time, she also ended up on the Isle of Val and encountered the Students of Baldesion who also ended up supporting her (and where she grew close to some of the members - this mysterious 'grandfather' and girl named 'Krile'. But of course, this is all just my speculation so take from it what you will. The main thing is though, any relation Minfilia has with Krile would probably be non-family related - as 1.0's story seemed to stress that Minfilia was an only child.

It's possible that they, Like Flahamine, are simply "Family-Figures" having a sister like relationship with Krile and Krile's Grandfather inturn treating Minfilia as one of his own. And assuming that's the case then it only makes sense she would be in shock over Val's disappearance as that would have ment the possible death of two of the last three people she had in this world. (Not sure if Val disapeared before or after we discovered Flahamine's survival. But I'm thinking it was in 2.2 when Val disappeared and Flahamine was part of 2.1's story.)

Don't forget The Walker's Path so easily, now! Ascilia changed her name to hide from the Empire as the daughter of F'lhaminn; Thancred came up with it. She received the Echo in 1567 and confided it to him in a moment of weakness, and he relayed it back to Louisoix, who began correspondence with her. The Path of the Twelve was her idea, which Louisoix embraced while warning her of its dangers. As far as I can tell, she never strayed too far from Ul'dah.

The Students of Baldesion were never mentioned in Version 1.0, and much of the information the Circle of Knowing and Path of the Twelve did not have back then but suddenly possess in abundance now is attributed to them. I'm guessing they were put in contact with one another by way of Louisoix in 1572, or by way of Sharlayan shortly after his death. I don't remember if there were other clues... We only got a line here or there.

Ah! Thanks for that clarification Moose - I was too lazy to double check a few details. But I had the basic idea right! ;)
