Devs: You're aware how terrible Missions/Parley are, right?

I don't want to be forced to parley even as a crafter -_- I remember doing R30 Carpenter quest which involved no actual crafting - at all! I, however, had to do a whole lot of parley.... with disobedient children.

By the time I had to parley for the 4th time, honest to god, I wanted to spank the hell out of their behinds instead.... for talking back to me. I mean, I suspect hacking off their heads with my saw might be a bit too extreme >_>

This. Absolutely this.

What SE should do (IMO) is simple:

- Increase parley speed and out-of-quest usefulness, IE better rewards and PvP parley for fun.
- Have no main scenario quest with parley unless it absolutely makes sense (protip: Forever Taken's parleying makes no sense)
- Put actual battles on the next main storyline quests. I personally believe the ones we have up to now doesn't necessarily need to be changed, we kinda had no real storyline reason for a major battle at all except for one or two that already have fights anyways. Unless of course they change the previous story events, something I also see no need to do.

Mission is fine, but I think Parley shouldn't exist in this game. they are too lag and too wasting time. Just let us play card game like FF8 style instead!

I don't like parley either. I feel like its just a side thought in order to let crafters and gatherers pass through the missions like Disciplines of War/Magic. If it remains in the game it will always be an easy out for anyone wanting to progress through tough missions not able to beat it in combat. If I see a gatherer save the world and defeat the Garlean Empire by parley I will be sad : (

Look, Parley is just a mini-game symbolizing a debate. It's actually kind of a cool idea. You symbolically use your knowledge of subjects to talk others into believing you or trusting you. I agree it needs tweaking (and is among the aspects of the game that has received the least amount of attention) but I feel it's being judged over-aggressively in this thread.

Yes, it does need to be faster. I've sighed and rolled my eyes many times just waiting for my turn to roll around again. It's not without its problems and I also think if you don't like something, you shouldn't be "forced" to do it - but think about other RPG games that introduce you to an optional mini-game. You usually HAVE to do it once or twice and then the game just lets you decide for yourself when you want to use it.

That's really not all that unlike FFXIV. I've only been "forced" to use it in 1 Carpenter quest and was encouraged to use it by some tree hugging Sylphs in 1 Main Story quest (where I could have used excessive violence instead).

Though I do agree bringing back Triple Triad would be nice. That was by far my favorite integral mini-game in the Final Fantasy series with Blitzball coming in second. That's just a hobby, though. It wouldn't substitute for having "a debate" which is what Parley symbolizes in quests.

I don't know how many of you have actually tried to do some of the later missions by parleying but it is by far easier to just smack the crap out of the enemies then to try to do the parley. The last one I did that had parley it definitely seemed like the enemies were just cheating and would always get whatever they needed to royally screw me over. It was far easier to just kill the enemies then try to beat them in parley (Ex. fighting is the easy way out :P).

I don't know why your so upset about parley existing anyway it's not like in any of the main scenario quests your forced to parley you can always just kill the mobs and move along it's literally not hindering you at all. As for the quests where your required to do parley those are on your DOL/DOH (Botanist has one too) classes so it's not like they would be fighting anyway. If there wasn't parley in the quest it would just be a duplicate of one of the other botanist quests I think it mixes things up in a good way.

Agreed 100%, please do this SE! I don't want these stupid, boring, unchallenging missions we currently have. I want hard party based ones like FF11!

Then if you wanna do the missions you should be forced to group with someone capable or change classes. The missions as they are right now suck big time, what a stupid decision by SE to go down this road.

I can only imagine the scenario : King Arthur summons all his knights within the room where the round table is, explaining the dire situation they face against an overwhelming army of 5000 dragons led by a mysterious dark mage with powers beyond everything the knights have ever encountered before.

When Arthur says he will choose the bravest of soul for the mission of his life to go into ennemy territory trying to stealth his way to the leader of this dark force and confront him hopping to end this menace in a quick strike, Percival and Lancelot are jumping in a corner with hands in the air like 2 idiots saying : choose me me me me me!!!!! -Has the mysterious power of echo and is blessed by an unknown deity (well unknown to me because I'm only up to Lord Errant Mission). And, as it has been hinted to in the mission Lord Errant, may possibly be able to summon his deity to this realm to aid him in battle. It doesn't matter whether you are a gardener or a gladiator, if you can call forth a GOD, then King Arthur(using your example), would be out of his mind not to ask you for assistance. For you are blessed!

In my opinion, this is why SE made it so all classes can participate in the missions. Regardless of who/what you are, you have power, so you must do what must be done. Removing DOH and DOL classes from missions is not the right choice.
