Though I don't like your analogy at all, I can see how there can be a difference of opinion here. As someone who has been queuing DPS I'd rather just get in and have a chance, even if that chance is 1/3 instead of 1/2, instead of waiting. But I can see how someone would rather wait while crafting or doing whatever else and then get the higher chance once they finally get in.

In that case, I think adding a level between need and greed for people who can use it but not on their current class/job would be a happy medium. This would let you lot ahead of someone who's just going to use it for seal fodder or for something they might maybe, someday level, but still puts you behind whoever waited as that role in the queue, if that's important to people.

It's not like the ability to switch jobs at a moment's notice is built into the game or anything.

Honestly. Why not just let each person loot the chest for personal drops? There's those coins that randomly drop to a random person. So opening a chest for each person would either give them coins to sell for money for repairs or a random piece of gear for one of their jobs. Having random gear drop isn't a problem in this game since you can be every job. As for the Primals. You've got the totem thingies that can be traded in to that npc.
