The GCD is fine. :)
It is perfect the way it is.
Have to agree with many others, There is nothing wrong with the combat speed. It sucks at low levels when you have almost no abilities, but after you get them the speed is fine.
Didn't read all the responses, but I can tell you that I feel combat is too fast. I felt that it was too slow when I played in the first few beta tests, but now that I've experienced more of it, it's actually not slow at all. I can understand the need to feel those amazing numbers flowing one after the other nonstop, but that's not the point of this combat system. It's to choose your skill wisely, and allows for greater strategy (again, something I didn't see or really understand when I first tried out the game). If I use a damage skill on my paladin as the boss is readying up a large aoe attack, I likely won't be able to get off my stun, so I either have to run out of it or take the hit.
It's really a hit or miss system, players will either love or loathe it.
Mashing buttons is not skill so it isn't underestimating players abilities. The GCD being the way it is adds a new level of skill that you need to master and I can assure you that if you feel it's too slow, you're doing it wrong. This game is about strategy not who can have the biggest fit while attempting to get the highest numbers. I just don't feel this game is for you.
No GCD fine.
I was thinking perhaps have magic and weapon skills on separate cooldowns, but other that that I've had no issues with the pace. Also, skills you get from guilds should have their own own CDs IMO.
The global cooldown is not a big deal, a big deal is the dumb 0.5 second timer on instant abilities. Makes the combat feel awfully unresponsive.
