I agree the dmg should be a lot higher and at this point AM seems to be pretty much useless.

I suspect the delay between the short casting time and damage being inflicted is SE's interesting way of making Ancient Magic long cast spells without incapacitating Conjurers for 30 seconds. Instead, they treat it as a buff which when it wears off means the spell has finished casting.
Think of it this way, would you rather be stuck casting for 30 seconds unable to perform any other actions or the current system which lets you cast other spells in the delay?
Apart from that, we all know Ancient Magic damage (and all higher tier spell damage) is broken. There's no way Fire I, Fire II and Flare should ever be producing almost identical damage and not be broken. It's just a matter of when it will finally be fixed and Conjurer can be the awesome little nuker it should be.
LOL I thought I was alone on this...I felt dumb leveling CONJ after I saw how the AM spells were..I should've ranked up THM or a different DD job instead...
Hi Eve,
Nice to see you on the official Forums (read your posts on Core all the time ;)).
Yah, it's so sad when you see a *Star Marmot* (basic "level 1 monster") resisting your fully buffed Tornado spell. (~_~) It's so broken, when it should be doing 9999 Damage on something like that. ;)
Hopefully we get some fixes to this class after they finish with the basic, core Combat fixes (which I hope is soon).
With the current battle system the delay has its uses. In NM battle regiments, you can cast the AM before the BR begins, then do your normal nuke inside the BR. The AM for me, starts around 1000 damage, coupled with my tier 2 nuke for 1300-2000.
I do still agree that the damage is retardedly low for the MP/casting time.
Pretty sure its a place-holder as they didn't worry about top ranked spells ^.~
Yeah they honestly look like stock demo effects that come with graphical arts software.
Indeed, the spell animations are incredibly lame.
This is about the only real topic on the con forum imo >< (sorry) but, I agree that it may need some looking into.
