This maintainance fixes nothing for current players

I think at this point, they are more interested in people who just bought the game being able to get on, and allowing them to reinstate the digital downloads. That way they get more $$$ from selling fresh copies and when subscription time rolls around. Let's face it, this game has been in the hole far too long and I have a feeling Yoshi-P is being pressured from higher up to get more people/sales before fixing the current log in issues on existing servers.

What they seem to not realize, however, is that they will be losing money when the current players quit because they are pissed they can't get on.

Personally, I think we'll still be playing the 1017 mini game on Wednesday. Who needs Tetra Master when you have this, right?

How much of these threads could be solved if people read what SE posted. They already addressed the AFK issue, and said they would get to it after they fixed capacity of the game.

also they said they were increasing the server capacity as well as adding more servers. I mean you just need to check the lodestone or twitter. Anyways to list a few things. SE is increasing server capacity, Adding more servers, splitting duty finder up so it wont get over loaded, allowing server transfers mid September, Resuming Digital purchases after maintenance, and designing an AFK kicker, charging for subscriptions when trial ends, first of which veteran rewards is a 1 time complete character re customization available for every character. everything I listed was said by SE through one article or another. Please see if SE addresses the issues before you go posting. I usually just like to read threads but its getting painfully annoying the last few days at people griping and complaining because they are under informed when the information is RIGHT in front of them.

Just an announced restart would do it. They can't log back in if they are not there to do it. Not sure where the teams common sense is. Probably where they put my sleeves and buckles.

SE has been pretty rational about this. If they are going to add servers, I suspect they will be doing something like this:

1. Continue to restrict character creation on servers for a while longer.
2. Add new servers for those people who could not find an NA/EU server to make a character on, and have been invading the JP servers.
3. Increase capacity on existing servers.

This would alleviate a lot of problems. I also expect that they may give out one free character transfer (total speculation there) in the future. Some kind of AFK kick/queue system would be very nice. But I have yet to hear them implementing these systems.

At this point, anything would be an improvement. Unless you have 30-60 minutes of time to spam your login.

Last night i sat and watched one spot, the sanctuary on leviathan for 27 minutes until i got truly bored. During that time, i counted 16 people who stood still there the whole time. I know some of you will say that " they probably were reading strat's or giving their kids a bath".When i am done playing i log out, and everytime i log back in i get 1017. It takes hours sometimes to get in, yesterday it took me 11 hours to get in. I just wish that people were fair and did not take advantage of there being no AFK timer.
I know some people will tell me to worry about myself and not others. But what they do not understand is, they are hurting the game. People will get upset and word of mouth travels fast. So new people will stay away and the game will have a worse stigma.
I know SE has some issue's but we as a community can do our part.
You can tell me to screw off or i am wrong, but to me i make alot sense. This is my point of view

The capacity of the existing servers will still be and continue to be filled unless people have the option to move to a less populated server.

OP, the servers are capped artificially low atm to keep the strain on the duty finder to a minimum. They need to fix the duty finder to increase the capacity of the servers. Otherwise what will happen is that we'll all be able to log in, but can't do any story missions or dungeons because the duty finder is broken.
