Hey all,
Just as a follow up, the conflicting text has been removed from the Material Usage License agreement! :)
Great news SE, my hat goes off to you
Cant use music in videos?
So I got a question, I dont make videos very often, but if one of my friends has a hard time doing a certain part of the game or something ill shoot me doing it and show it to him. If i am listening to pandora in the background or something and have the FFXIV sound off with pandora on that isn't allowed?
Technically making a video with pandora running in the background would be against ToS for both pandora and a violation of the RIAA. However, no offense, but if you're recording this for just a friend as you state there's nothing preventing you from just sending him the video, if you're posting on youtube you're doing more than you claim anyway.
So you cannot make "music videos" to this game, is that correct in what I am reading?
... *scratches all FFXIV:ARR content off of future video projects*
Seriously, the terms of use pretty much take away ALL creative freedom. I was ok with being unable to monetize FFXIV videos (I hate ads anyways and refuse to let YouTube use them on my channel), but being unable to use 3rd party music (even if it's fair use such as content from OverClocked ReMix), being unable to hide the copyright info at the bottom of the screen when filming "clean scenes" (it's ugly as hell, please get rid of it), forbidden from altering the scenes (special effects) etc., pretty much takes this off of my "to do" list. =\
All videos will consist of the same thing: Straight story content (spoilers who does that?) without the ability to hide key moments (because you can't change the audio), and battle gameplay (more spoilers).
