The system which popularized "Bahamut" has he as the male of the dragons, their father and "Tiamat" as their mother. However Bahamut is also benevolent in DnD so.......

Surely if we're going to see anything of that sort we should finally get to see why people are so keen on exclaiming "Thal's balls" at every opportunity* XD

*I expect now there are actually only two instances of someone saying "Thal's balls!" in the entire script, and I'm only remembering it because it cracks me up ^^~

For the record, the whole gender roles thing with babies is dumb as hell.

Bahamut, in all incarnations has always been the King of Dragons. And I believe at one point was refered to as King of Dragons in even this game. So the answer is, he is indeed a male.
