Ifrit-Egi makes me sad

The summons in this game made me cry so hard, seriouslly. FFXI did a terrific job at giving us awesome summons to play with.
This game is not Final Fantasy at all, I just killed a freaking Bomb with Fire I, at any other FF, the Bomb would have just healed from the fire and laughted really hard at my dumbness.
I'm just disappointed...

Actually, Bombs haven't always been fire elemental in all Final Fantasy games, just a fiery appearance. They were actually weak vs Fire in XI. If you think about an actual bomb, they are not especially resistant to fire lol. There was actually a dev statement at one point about Elemental resistances. They didn't want Black Mage, for instance, to be completely locked out of being able to fight certain mobs just because Fire is their main damaging attack. It would cause unbalanced restrictions for certain classes/jobs vs others since some of them don't even have elemental based attacks.

That is not really a problem, since they have access to Stone, Aero and other cross class abilities, like Thunder, or even Ruin, which is a unaspected dmg, that almost every class has access too... And it is not like everymob has resistances that make then impossible to kill, but having Cure deal dmg to undead and Fire deal extra dmg also, would just make sense.

That's not MY argument, I'm simply pointing out that it was stated in a Letter that they wanted all classes and jobs viable for all content in regard to Elemental resistances/weaknesses.

The summon pets in FFXI looked great but did nothing. They were just for show and not no dmg abilities to hurt mobs. SMN job was a second rate healer in FFXI and not Damager dealer. The pets could not stay out and you had to work on high lvl staves just to keep out carby. Yes the summon pets don't look as great as FFXI versions but they actually matter in this game. Summoner class is actually a damage dealer like they were meant to be in this game.
We can only hope that future summons: Odin, Shiva, Ramuh, Bahamut, Diabolos or Alexander would love somewhat similar to original prime but just smaller.
I like the smaller size actually, its just the looks that are somewhat lacking a bit.
Lets just be strong as community and be glad that we actually matter in game now. I think Summoner and Arcanist are pretty good jobs.

I'm not sure what I will call my Garuda Egi. Probably just Leaf.

Yeah, they all look so "WOW"-ish. Too cartoony. Except Carbuncle. He looks the same as in FFXI. I'd much rather have the badass looking ones you could summon in FFXI. Shiva and Titan, especially were ominous looking.

Like many people have said. The whole "clutter" because of pets is a poor reason. Every person in the game can use their chocobo in battle. Those are larger than most races. People have been talking about keeping things pure or close to the base design. When people ask for Dragoon pets, people just say no that was only in FFXI. Well I am sorry but this is the only FF that has ever had these micro summons. Summons have ALWAYS been HUGE. I am not asking for that. I am not even asking for FFXI size. I am asking for at least CLOSE to human size. Like some other people have said as well, Carby looks correct.

Dunno what SE thought; 300sec CD on Enkindle when a BLM can spam Flare for more dmg and lower cd.And yes they can "spam" it (Flare) by using Convert/Hi-ether >_> They really need to either up the dmg on Enkindle or lower the cd. Summoner feels really underpowered atm. even their pets does silly dmg ._.
