I didn't watch, but thanks for letting me know this show is garbage. I really hate it when a supposed source of news doesn't do their due diligence and releases incorrect or inaccurate information. So many of them do these days.
What ever happened to journalistic integrity?
I have tried, like many others. A forum moderator on their site (her name started with a Q if i remember) would talk back at you and lock your thread if you brought up any criticism. Even on the beta forums there are folks who have brought up how rude their forum staff are.
They did do a good show, but its hard to forget how mean they were to us "the fans." Telling us how stupid we are for playing 1.0. Talking crap about a very meaningful End of an Era video. They didn't understand it but still spoke of it like it was a waste of time. I won't forget that...
LOL, my point wasn't to watch it...or to not watch it really.
It was, they have the right to advertise too, and to be completely fair, GBTV might very well be a source that people use to 'see' if this game is worth it ...and/or it might have been the 'go to' for information back in early 1.0 days for some of the 1.0ers who quit who are now looking to make a comeback...so in both those cases, I can see some 'good' in it.
That said, GBTV needs to get every little factoid right, down to the very last detail. While they don't need to outright apologize for their lack of professionalism in the early 1.0 days, they need to make it clear, that they've changed and aren't simply riding the 'popularity bandwagon' and/or just hanging around in hopes that the game will fail again.
You can't insult the loyal fanbase of gamers who stuck with the game, and then expect them to not remember it. I actually won't be watching the show. But they have the right to advertise here. We also of course have the right to nicely say, we don't approve of their past behavior, tactics etc.
I will stick to the podcasts and websites I like, run by people who know what they are talking about and who were there playing the game, when it was supposedly 'garbage'. Because, well that's what I like and how I roll. Besides, I found good sources of game information that don't include GBTV...so why would I switch ;).
TL/DR: You don't find out who your true friends are until you are struggling and down and out. The people who support you and stick with you through thick and thin are the people you can trust, and keep close. Those who are only around when the going is good, typically aren't worth your time. GBTV is a 'fair weather friend'.
they made good points. gave there opinions & stated facts.
fanboys wont like it of course.
Despite the shortcomings of some of the people associated with Gamebreaker.tv, I have to say I really did enjoy watching this. And Relix has a good point, one Mike is a big fan, the other Mike has legacy status. They were both fairly knowledgeable. Gary Gannon has a running joke of throwing his 1.0 CE box, but you can tell he wants to like this game and wants to see it succeed.
Honestly, that Pocket chick pisses me off more than anyone else.
I've noticed Gamebreaker.tv picking up steam in posting news blurbs about ARR through Facebook. They've had some really positive things to say, and I think it's nothing but good advertising for the game.
I enjoyed it. Hopefully it will bring more people to the game or give it a second chance.
Edit: and there were almost 2500 people in the chatroom.
Watching it now, it's quite well made. Though I still miss the style of some of the FFXI podcasts, I miss listening to Limit break radio.
