Job Wheel!

Well holy ..... I can only view on my phone atm (at work) but that is 1000% SCH @3'o clock. With the 7 original jobs plus SMN obviously illustrated (and no "muskateer") WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??? o.O. I think it has to mean the obvious. Has to.

What is the source of the pic? And what do you guys make of the fadey images in the background?

Can't wait to see this on my PC screen at home later!

A summoner would wield the same weapon as it's class. A book.
Since you know, we know that Summoner is the Arcanist's job. And Arcanists use books.

That is about all the official information we got. From there you make your own conclusions.

I DEFINITELY wouldn't mind at ALL Summoner coming out of Musketeer if that was the case.
God the summoning sequences in that anime were majestic, his quotes amazing.

Frankly, I don't think anything is set in stone... It's entirely possible that they came up with scholar as yet another mage job, and realized books made way more sense for that than for arcanist/summoner, and honestly since arcanist uses carby and summoner uses summons they may have something else that isn't natively a weapon (like stones or gems.). A very curious picture indeed. The background is very hard to pinpoint (except the guy in harvester gear.) since it just seems to be various people in non-job specific gear.

It's also entirely possible that it's just a massive troll on akihido yoshida's part. Or that they snuck in arcanist with some special new non-summoner gear to mess with our heads.

We can speculate as much as we want, but until we get official word... or the game actually launches... nothing is really off the table.

I always thought of this when people mentioned somewhere else *cough* about possible jobs out of musketeer. But I figured not everyone would know about him. It certainly would be awesome and somewhat a different approach to summoning.

If he were in a turn-based Final Fantasy it would have taken him a whole turn for each line =P

Books themselves aren't very useful as weapons, maybe we will see different books for different classes depending on what knowledge/magic they contain.

I've gotta say I'm with you on this. It's not like they can't change things up from what's been hinted at already. There's a couple of other things that have been brought back into the light on the Beta forums that reinforce the suggestion that SCH is another intended job, but that's a discussion for *over there*.

It needs to be said that the original plan for ACN (before Yoshi) was for them to use a "mechanical staff", so maybe they went back to that idea? Although ACNs were also supposed to lay traps on the ground, but... meh.

As far as I can tell, the image is "unsourced", i.e. nobody has said what Web site originally hosted it. My guess is someone did the equivalent of "dat mining" but on a Web site and got something SE didn't intend to publish yet. Like maybe it was meant to be the last image in the FFXIV Text Art promotion with MS/Win8.

I don't know about the "background" characters. They have some very nice gear, but it could be mid-level stuff for who-knows-what class. Or it could be concept art for every conceivable class. I counted 28 characters in the background.
