Why do you visit the forums?

Occasionally a pretty interesting idea comes up, which, regardless of whether or not it has a practical place in ARR or not, I enjoy reading over and offering small fixes or slightly reoriented viewpoints thereto.

The general threads can offer a few grin-flickers (about as physically expressive as I get) as well.

To seek hope in humanity and when that fails laugh my butt off with some of the post

The meme thread. And also some degree of masochism on my part. You'd think I'd have cast Death on myself by now after seeing some of the outrageous posts on here, but in defending the game I find myself growing closer to it.

Really only drop by to check on news for the game, be it through translations or dev posts.

Old habits

Because ironically at the moment this forum seems to be a relative island of sense and stability in a rapidly rising ocean of stupid.

I have a cold, no job, i'm lonely, insomnia. I have been compulsively checking the FFXIV ARR forum, play a few hours of FFXI in a day and even worse i'm hooked on playing Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade for andriod phone. My life situation is not glamorous.

I read to keep in touch with what’s going on in the game development, scheduling, progress, etc. As well as hope against hope (when the game is active) that there will be some usefully information on how to play, tactical advice, tips like someone who found a better way to do “X”.

But why I really think I read them is to torture myself, from some deep seeded need for self inflicted pain. I guess at heart I’m just a confused teen aged girl who likes to cut herself (in reality just a graying old guy).

Posts can be funny or fun, if not informative but the junk around here (90% of all posts) constantly piles up. Then again its fun at work sometimes to nudge a coworkers and show them yet another post of “SE screwed up, and here is how they can do better”; like that company hangs on every word coming from someone who should of moved out of mom’s basement years ago. Or the ever popular “I want this in the game”, or maybe just those posters in the thousands who like to reply just to reply.

Oh well, my self hatred is fulfilled by reading this stuff so I guess in the long run it serves a purpose.
