A LONG long time ago, I think I saw a dev post on this (I have no idea how to find it again as it was a longtime ago) that said more or less that *IF* we ever got a use for namedays etc, they might offer us a small in game bonus/token during our in-game namesday...and that their might be potential for a larger, once a year namesday gift based on the earth calendar as well. However, I'm sure if they implemented this for ARR, that your big prize would be waiting in your player mailbox the next time you logged in.
PS: both my Hubby and I used our actual rl birthdays. But his IS 1/1 and mine is 12/1...so we have 'popular' birthdays anyway :/ -

I picked my real birthday. Hopefully there will be some kinda perks later on, like if you sign up at a restaurant's website and you get a free meal or something. Nothing major or anything, just something acknowledging your name day.

I'm not too surprised, but it's nice to know a lot of people do use their bdays. I was thinking of making one up for my own character but it seems fake to do it that way.

My char has always had his Name Day the same as my bday since Open Beta in 1.0
