I fixed it a bit ^^
I mean, for what is slow backpedaling good? For what purpose is it better than turning around and run back with the face forward? Even if you don't target anything? I have always the feeling this is some shooter thing.

U cannot just turn around and run way. If you do, you loose sight of the mob you loose targeting.
Also back stepping is great imo.
It is far more realistic than seeing a bunch of people fighting, running all over the place to reset themselves, when they could of just taken 2 slow steps back.
I liked it in FFXIV and I will like it in ARR.
I play with a controller and backpedaling is NOT more of a mouse thing.. Where do people come up with this nonsense?
You simply pres back and it feels 100% natural, if your hands aren't dyslexic..
Backing up does not make the camera turn.. It shouldn't and never did in ffxiv.
It only works when you are locked onto a target..
Do you guys have like dreams where these things are just so uberly cool, you have to make pointless topics about them?
I don't know what you mean.
If I pressed the stick back and my char was locked on a target, the char walked slowly back with the face to the target. But if my char wasn't locked to a target, he turned around and ran away the moment I pressed the stick back.
This you don't have anymore in ARR. You would always walk slowly back, no turn around and ran away anymore. To run away you need now to turn the camera around first. Fast running would only works forward to the camera direction.
we <3 MoonWalking dude!!!!!
Backpeddling isn't bad imho. I play other MMO's that had it but then again I play with a Mouse/Keyboard so I don;t know how it affects controller users. ( I am the type of person that adjust to what I am playing). Some people have a hard time adjusting to change, and that is understandable. In the end if it stays the way it is, it's either adjust or don't play. There will be people that will play the game and others won't.
Thankfully the developers have said multiple times, movement like 1.0 (No backpedaling if not locked on target) Will return, so people have options.
