Devs: Do you have plans to reset the forums in the future?

You can do something pretty bad in XI and get banned in XIV as well since they'll ban the SE account if both is linked. Sure certain sticky situations apply but what you say has nothing to do with what I am talking about outside of accounts being linked. I am not saying give people whose characters were banned from the game itself the removal of a ban but instead those players who may have gotten fairly/unfairly banned from the forums another chance. It's not like saying you did nothing wrong here is a second chance because they already been banned for an long period. It is saying here is one more strike as a measure of good faith for supporting our company.


Also every time an expansion or update comes out!?!? Really? FFXIV: ARR in the first place isn't as simple as a update or a expansion. It is the re-release of a game rebuilt from the ground up not only with the game getting a new beginning but the forums to a degree are getting redesigned to suit the game. They are trying to reestablish a fan base so a good way in doing that is to be lenient on previous forum related issues and letting them have access to the new forums. Also I am sure their will be a new EULA agreement/rules , also new regional based servers and perhaps new forums subsections to go with those. Technically a brand new forum all members who have active accounts (once the game starts up) should be able to have free access to the forums once again, and they can be easily banned again if they broke the new code of conduct.

Still the same person that got the bann. If he got permabanned he must have done bad things multiple times and was warned. I don't think it's a good idea to unbann everyone just cause of ARR ,ppl that are permabanned deserve them.

There's a couple of folk I'd really like to see come back, but I doubt they'll do it.

Also I can't believe some of you guys really, has the FF community fallen so low that they can't condone a single second chance? Can't give people the benefit of the doubt? Even if most of them deserve it new game should come with new beginnings across the board no if, and, or but about it.

Every MMO community has it's faults but this is specifically the FFXIV community. They will chastise other FF fans simply because they play or enjoyed SE's other FF MMO, don't even question the integrity. Alerith has a point, if SE unbans people they didn't want around (hence banning in the first place) other companies may as well unban everyone who hacked or cheated "for a good cause" and may as well release everyone from jail since it's a form of punishment for breaking the rules and everyone deserves a second chance.

I get what you're trying to say but SE never did that for XI when they released CoP and ToAU (game changers.) They really shouldn't unban people just because the game is getting relaunched or it pretty much undermines the whole reason for having rules in the first place and having enforcers.

They're going to archive every comment, reply, thread, everything. The day that ARR launches. It will all become read only, and people will have to start new threads going forward from ARR.

I'm sorry for your brother, but I am also not sorry.

I'm sorry that, as a loyal fan, he cannot access the forums.

At the same time I am not sorry. As bad as flamers and trolls are, you just can't be doing stupid shit. If he's old enough to be on the forums, then he's old enough to know the consequences of his actions. And he's old enough to know that he takes full responsibility for what he says here.


Whatever he did, he most likely hurt or offended someone. And of course, the Mods know what they're doing. They can't have people offending others on their official forums. That looks bad for the company and the community overall. Plus, it's not like they want to deal with any lawsuits. I know people will always find something to sue over.

They want a clean and friendly environment. That's the way it should be. There's guidelines and rules that you're supposed to be aware of before posting here. Your brother broke these rules, your brother experienced the consequences. Should have did it right the first time. Sorry if that's blunt.

I've been banned from the WOW forums about 6 times so far.

They keep restoring my account every time they do their "please come back and play WOW, we gave you a free week" campaign.

Every time, I go on the WOW forums and post my nudes for giggles.

It's glorious.
