How much do you think server transfers should cost?

Ahh i see what you mean ya they be very high demands and for item with high demands it wont have crazy price tags like x2 meld weps for relics lol it was have a good overall balance.

I don't see why they can't do that that be great but if they going to do this it most come out at release any later the price would take a while to be fix overall.

i rather have a 90 days cool down free transfer than need to pay. :|

I think it should be free for the first few months till influx of new players and 1.0 players get settled. Then I don't really mind what price or restrictions SE puts on it, providing they aren't ridiculousness.

In XI, I paid for server transfer to play with a couple of IRL friends. After a few months I had a difference of opinion with their linkshell leader and had to find a new group to game with. Over the following two years, I went through about eight 'shells as people just stopped playing, before I eventually moved on to XIV. I hadn't wanted to spend the £15 again to rectify my mistake.

I would have gone back to XI in November if there was anyone to go back to. Ironically, members of my LS on my original server have stayed in contact with me since 2007, but I resent the £15 transfer fee; not because it's unaffordable, just because I see it as greedy and unnecessary (and would have paid it twice to end up where I started, which makes me annoy myself).

However, when I did transfer, I did a copy/paste of the auction house tables for the two servers from ffxiah.com into a spreadsheet and compared the values, selling off all the cheaper things and stocking up on the most profitable. I made 2mil gil, which at the time compensated somewhat for the server transfer cost. My character in XI ended up not needing gil, so that sadly wasn't something I could do to justify the real cost.

So, from that experience, I would love server transfers in XIV to be free! The restriction to prevent abuse that I would suggest is that you can only transfer after a year of paying subscription fees and then again once every year after that. And I think a server-wide auction house would be incredible (especially if it was accompanied by an awesome stat-filled, searchable and fully interactive website version...) in order to keep server economies aligned.

I love it to be free only if the AH is cross worlds or if it's a big time limit like let's say half a year that would make more sense then 90days for the trade of being free and all.

In FFXI they cost $25, which if you asked me is a bit expensive these days. However in Rift they are free and you can server transfer every 7 days.

I personally feel that they SHOULD NOT offer server transfers after the initial launch of ARR. Server transfers allow server hopping as long as they pay the fee. Even if they put a cooldown time for transfers it still doesn't stop people from jumping servers after the time period. At the end of the day it ruins the server community and some servers end up being much lower in population than others. We saw this a lot in WoW when whole guilds would transfer because the other servers were more populated. I personally like it in a game where I can play for an extended period of time and see the same names and people I've been playing with for years.

But again, I am not against initial server transfers. Once people get settled they should be locked into that given server.

yoshi-p said he wont add it too 1year+ from release or when there very high demand so there no issue there. Yoshi-p know the issue you talking about they would only be one world switch and that the day 1 of FFXIV when we remake our account and pick if we like to go to a NA,EU,JP world. But like you said once people get settled that when yoshi-p would release a way to switch world he believe there no point of it from day one so pick your world you really want to be in because you wont have other chance for a while.

As you say Pink; in Rift you can transfer every 7 days and it's free. What's a week of no-play if you gank a bunch of gear/gil from your linkshell, transfer to another server and change your name (by creating an alt on the target server)?
If the server transfer costs something substantial, say $15~$25, people are going to be much less inclined to abuse it.

except a week is not enough to be accepted by a LS that gets shit done and then get stuff ... even tho FFXIV's way of loot will make point hoarding system moot ...i figure you still need more than a week ..a lot more

they should be expensive, to deter people from doing it unless they really want to do it. Long delays are designed to minimize the possibility of people exploiting one server's economy to benefit themselves on another server and to prevent to much sudden influx/export of money from one server to another. 3 months may be too long, but it should be longer than 1 week.

I'd say make it free but the time you can relocate again is harsh.
