i agree with you in theory. people will originally try to sell items for that original 20 mil and it won't sell. they will then drop it to 15mil and it probably won't sell there either, but after a few more drops the item may sell for 6mil. it will be selling for 14mil less than it did before, but the profit after the new currency could be much higher. in the above example the going rate would have been 2 mil, but since someone bought it for 6 then it'd selling for 300% of the expected rate.
i'm not saying all items will sell for that much more above the expected conversion rate, but i do expect the values of certain items to change due to a difference in demand due to less overall currency to blow. i say this because of items like foods and potions are more of a needed item so i doubt they ever drop to that 10% of the original price, but other items will probably wind up falling to below that 10% price. i don't ever see shards selling for 3-7 gil nor foods for 100 gil, but i can see a 500k sword dropping to 50k.
when people only have a few hundred k they're not likely to spend hundreds of thousands on one item, but they are likely to spend it on foods and all even if it's half the price it is now.
