Yes please to choco-packs! I saw them with bags on their neck... Would be so cool to have the storage call upon kind of like how you called upon moogle in FF9 for things (save, shop, ect).

Thank you for the translation :o SMN SAM and NIN...pretty sweet! Lot of good news..cant wait for 2.0
The part about Tifa is funny..lol she is my favorite FF character and today I was saying..."Too bad we don't get more of Tifa's abilities/WS in FFXIV..or else I'd be all over MNK, cuz she made is awesome" and now Yoshi saying Tifa...haha XD
Thank you very much for the translation. I'm just going to make some comments on stuff that most interested me:
Totally didn't see this coming. Bravo SE.
I'm kinda glad about this, but it's probably going to annoy people with all 50s that just want to clear the content quick and move on. I hope level sync is optional if you're in a group of max level characters and it doesn't automatically scale you down to the level the content was meant to be played at.Quote:
[*] The general progression of main quests is, you do a couple of quests then fight a strong boss to be able to continue with your story. This will add a true sense of progression of RPG games. And with level sync this is going to improve the experience for all the players. Unlike currently in the game when people challenge the “weak” ifrit, it’s as if watching a cutscene and there is no actuall fight.
No recasts on WS or spells is going to make things interesting...Quote:
[*] We have 3 types of actions: abilities, weapon skills, and magic. Currently abilities have a recast timer on them, while weapon skills and magic have TP and MP requirements respectively along with an added recast timer. However, in FFXIV:ARR the abilities will stay the same, while the weapon skills and magic will only require TP or MP. Obviously this will affect the speed of battle greatly.
Final Heaven for monks maybe? :OQuote:
Host: Other than meteor what can we expect as limit breaks?
Yoshi-p: Tifa’s… Tifa’s… Tifa’s…
This is the most interesting bit I took from this - This is the first case where a job doesn't get an ability from its corresponding class. This gives me some more hope for the future of multiple jobs branching off classes. They can obviously toggle off an ability to not work for a job from the class, so something like Dark Knight could realistically branch off Gladiator and have more of the less useful skills (like the shield ones) disabled. They just need to work in something for job specific weapons (like a scythe or great sword for Dark Knight) and since Dark Knight wouldn't take a good amount of abilities from Gladiator, they need to learn more in return.Quote:
[*] Summoners will not have carbuncle as a pet, but they’ll be using the primals as their source of power. However, not the primals themselves but they’ll use only a part of a primals strength. “A pet that the primals power dwells in” are Matsui’s exact words if I wasn’t mistaken.
I hope Arcanist/SMN auto-attack will be smacking them with the book, lol.
Also, as a craft that creates it books... Should be Leatherworker. My dad is a bookbinder (so yes, he creates books), and after years and years of watching him work, I'd say making a book seems mainly like a leatherwork craft. There's SOME weaving involved (sewing the sections of paper together), but most of the work centers around the leather covers. Maybe Goldsmith can upgrade some books with engravings and decorations.
I don't know... I still think that making paper is closer to Alchemist than anything else.
That said- Orophin
I don't believe at all that Summoner will 'loose' the Carbuncle "ability" and more like the Summoner abilities will alter how the sole pet ability Arcanist has (Carbuncle) into something else.
Well paper is merely a material. Turning that paper into a hardcover book (lets face it, softcover is not very FF) involves a lot of leatherworking. Like I said, my dad's a bookbinder and 90% of the time you see him working with leather.
If they hadn't done away with most materials, I would say that Alchemists should make ink and paper, goldsmiths should make gold leaf and corners, clasps, whathaveyou, Weavers should make the paper and ink into textblocks, and then leatherworker would compile it all into a completed book.
But seeing as that kind of crafting is done away with, I'm not entirely sure how it will work out.
