Agree to your points but with emphasis on this I have a hard time calling anything FOMO if it comes back at some point, it is a long wait (maybe something that can be addressed but its a nonissue for me), but it still comes back.

This is exactly why I would like to see the new battlepass to include stuff from other game modes. Fomo in general is bad and alleviating that part would work wonderfully if the Adventure Activity helped you in game modes you might not bee too interested in.
It doesn't need to completely remove the reason to do pvp series, but even as much as up to lvl5 on PvP series throughout the entirety of "season 1".
you can buy the rewards of the first few pvp seasons for pvp crystals... they add them one by one each patch.

they distanced themselves from limited time rewards. is it possible they changed their minds again? sure, but before we know everything about that system and their plans its too soon to critizice it.
that being said i think they should tell us everything about that system at the next fan fest so they still have time to receice proper critic from the playerbase and maybe act on it
Well yea this much is true now that I think about it.
I just hope that it wont be too late to give critique at that point. EU fanfest is in 3 months, that's 3months gone out the window for feedback. Giving them ~5months to fix whatever issues it has.
I really just don't want this system to be limited to item level.
Even if it's "returns one expac later" like the pvp pass, I don't care due the fomo passification of the game. Together with another major content slot given to a collab instead of being an extra like the Monster Hunter Collabs or Garo, it feels like the game is becoming more of one of those vapid free to play games.
Also, I have no clue why they said that it won't be paid as if they are doing us a favor, we are paying a sub and this is gear progression.
One expansion cycle is over 2 whole years! That's way too long. I created this forum account for two reasons, one of those was to fight for removing FOMO on the PvP battle pass. They promised there wouldn't be FOMO in PvP when they announced its battle pass system. They went back on that promise. After we fought on the Forums, it took over an entire expansion cycle, almost 3 years, to implement what was promised. And now there's a 2 and a half year delay! That's far too long for old series rewards to become available on vendors. It should be 4 months at most. At the very least a lot shorter then 2.5 entire years.
I have no idea whether there will be FOMO in this new system or not, what they showed was just an early concept, but it is a good idea to voice concerns to make sure they know our opinions before they work on its implementation. That way they can plan around it.
Edit: The PvP battlepass started in patch 6.1, they didn't make previous season rewards available in the vendor until 7.2. There was almost 3 years between 6.1 and 7.2.

Fear Of Missing Out
You can think of it as the word "temporary". If something is FOMO, it's only popular temporarily while the crowd is rushing to do it, and then a few months later nobody is doing it. Sometimes, they can't do it a few months later because it's time-limited, but it often dies anyway because everyone has done it already.
Furthermore, FOMO is created by the new "version" of something coming out. Once a new "version" comes out, nobody is hardly going to consume the "old" version. This is the case with raids, for example, where once a new raid tier releases, the previous ones that already reduced in activity, then almost completely die.
