I dunno the mistwalker games music is epic.

Sadly not but i hope he can make some new tracks for future expansions. He is still the man after all.
Nobuo Uematsu is a bloody legend but he's just that, a legend. whats really needed is new blood in the classical VG scene now more than ever. Uematsu and Yoko Shimomura are both getting up there in the years....sure age doesn't mean a whole lot to a composer but one of these days those legends, they will be gone.... its time to start making new legends.
I hope Uematsu will have some new works in finished 2.0, I seriously love his work.
The FF franchise has a lot of good music but when in doubt sometimes clever use of ambient sounds give an mmo a nice touch (take Dynamis for instance and this new 10 minute song someone posted on the forums recently).
I know I only speak for myself, but I've been playing with the games music on mute for the last 8 months because the music just distracts me, and the sounds around me (like cracks on Ifrit, or meteors on Nael) are amplified.
Uematsu has done great things, but I don't think most of the tracks for FFXIV can be counted among them ( there are several good ones however).
I absolutely love most of Uematsu's music, especially his older stuff. However, most of the guitar-heavy stuff (i.e. levequest music) that he composed for FFXIV...I could really take them or leave them. There are definitely a few standout tracks of his in the 1.0 catalog though, mostly the field themes and Answers.
Aside from that, Soken and the rest of the current sound team have been doing great work. Uematsu is always nice to have, but let's not act as though the game doesn't have an excellent sound team running things as it is.
I was never a fan of Uematsu's work in FFXIV. It's just not as defining as his earlier work. Granted, Navigator's Glory and Born of the Boughs are noteworthy, but I think it's high time we set aside the synthesizer and hardcore guitar...
Edit: On that note, bring back Hitoshi Sakimoto.
