The (Broken) Promise of Tomorrow - 7.3 Expectations

While I think that some player feedback is helpful I don’t know if I want to play something made out of the complaints. A lot of the systems that have been axed, dumbed down and things like the 2 min meta were done precisely for advocating for players complaining.

FT might have a problematic way of entry but it isn’t the end if the world.
The MSQ is ending with the way they intended, I don’t want them to go back to fix stuff like the final Star Wars movie. 7.2 wax pretty good for me to keep myself invested in the story.

I know I’m just reading the writing on the wall but this preemptive complaining doesn’t really do much.

Which is a shame, because if they just kept the current one as Savage mode and dialed down the difficulty (like rez restrictions, etc.) to make the in-zone version with cipher entry the Normal mode, it could’ve been a really fun equivalent to CLL.

Usually i would agree because i see it the same, but i learned one thing, the FFXIV Players will always be dissatisfied no matter what Square is doing.

I mean the current Droprates for the Atma as example, i like them, while there are people hate it, what happens if they increase now the rate? i will hate it and other will like it

or in older Expansion, People with interest in more "Challening" Content always had only Savage + Ultimate, now they added in this Expansion CAR and FT and people complain, if they now with the next Expansion stop adding more Challening Content, people will complain, you can not satisfy the FFXIV Community, so at this Point im honest, Square should do what ever Square wants without worrying about the Community

Because People forgot, even if only People are left which "like" "Challening" Content, they are still more as enough to to pay the costs to let ffxiv run, yea Square would need to stop maybe to take money into other Projects but there are so many People so the Costs for the Game would still be paid.

My hope is that 7.3 truly ends the Dawntrail story like they said it will and we pivot in 7.4 to what the road to 8.0 will be, which I honestly I have ZERO idea at this point. While ARR laid out foundations in its MSQ and post-patch series, DT has not. Yes, we got the key and and shard travel, but I still don't know if that's the direction they plan to go in. I think we will know soon enough, but I would not be surprised if we are heading for ShB the Sequel in 8.0 and hope to a whole other shard.

However, time to give Wuk the Lyse treatment and leave that annoying ho behind.

It's either Meracydia(though I have zero idea what the framing could be) or another shard, but they're running out of those. 9 is for all intents and purposes a dead world, 1 and 13 are recovering from their Floods, and 5, 12, 2, 3, 6, 10, and 7 were all Rejoined.

A possibility that's been rattling around in my head, especially with all the references to FFV more recently, is that the key will be used to justify random chunks of other shards being grafted to the Source and treated as new continents to explore.

Shard hopping is a good possibility, but on the Source we still have plot threads towards Meracydia, most of Xak Tural is still unknown, Same for Ilsabard and Hingashi. So options are there, we're not lacking in interesting places to visit.

I agree, but I worry they are going to be enticed to do another shard vs. fleshing out the map we currently have.

I mean, that was the feeling at the announcement of Shadowbringers and it turned out well. Depends on the story being told there.

it's depressing how people unironically believe this.

I'm out of expectations tbh, they said in the LL that it was because of cost that the "customer doesn't want to hear that" which is why FT is the way it is (and probably DT as a whole) which is a pretty big warning sign.

The other comment that stuck was that they got too comfortable, myself, and probably many others have seen this happening for way too long and if they're now just noticing it's just too late, for me anyways. This also means that FT is gonna be the way it is unless they have a patch to implement what they were saying for queing by allowing premades before 7.3, which is unlikely I'd say.

What this means is that FT is just gonna be even worse because the people who cleared are done their grind have no reason to do FT anymore and the people who aren't finished are left with dead instances because the premade que system is coming so late which at this rate is just unacceptable, part 2 isn't going to change my mind either sadly.
