No, numerically classes have never truly been this close in output (during Endwalker there was one moment of better balance, granted, but it didn't last).
And gameplay wise if you judge it by comments on the forums, with BLM now all jobs are equally braindead so they're more "balanced" than ever, too.
Shadowbringers was a big push in that direction but there were still plenty of outliers.
I mean don't necessarily like it (I prefer a super-unbalanced and super-unfair but also super-unique class system in my RPGs), but eh, it is what it is.
