7.2 MSQ opinions (spoiler obviously)

It was pretty good I thought. Calyx (Kuja) is quite an interesting character. I wasn't expecting him to first try to murder us out right, then start killing people indiscriminately. I was like holy fuck. This dude isn't fucking around.

And a lot more of the cutscenes were voiced this time around I was very happy about that.

Calyx made quite the entrance, and I'm sold! His seemingly detailed knowledge about the other reflections is gonna be a lot to chew on until the next patch.

Also really enjoying real Sphene.

I liked it. Real Sphene is nice and the story feels more interesting to me than the 7.0 story.
Can I please have real Sphenes trousers? Short pants with leggins underneath I really want a lot!!! :'D

This is a step in the right direction, was nice to see that the focus was on several different characters rather than 1.

Based on what Calyx knows about the other reflections, it can certainly go in an interesting direction. But I do feel it may get a little... Repetitive

If they are continuing with wrapping up the main story of the expansion in the x.3 patch, then I am going to assume that 7.3 is going to be a very busy story patch, unless they plan for this story to leak over until 7.4 and 7.5?

I agree with your points. I got hooked this time and it was really interesting to watch the cutscenes.
I just wish they'd loosen up the dungeon/trial storytelling and give us more solo battles like they used to. Solo missions like "Faded Memories" and "In form the Cold" were so good.

I enjoyed it, mainly because I was really looking forward to learning more about real Sphene, and they delivered. It's fun to explore what she thinks about the society her other self ruled over. I wanted them to lean into that a little bit more.

The only thing I didn't like is where it left off. The "post-human" plot is interesting but I really didn't get a sense of where they are going with it. It's strange to me that none of the characters really take a stronger stance against it, but I feel that's what is coming. The fact that we know that Solution Nine will continue to exist after the MSQ is done, due to its status as an expansion city does kind of put a weird tension on the story.

Yeah, thats my pet peeve with the writing in Dawntrail. It's like the writers are forcefully holding back against any kind of arguments, disagreements that go fully against something. It always has to be cushioned with "I understand their point of view but.." "I appreciate their feelings but.." "We need to respect their culture.. but"

I dislike the fact that we are still giving the fake-Sphene any leeway. It was a computer program, it was not a person, you don't need to treat it like a person. I REALLY hope we don't give Calyx anykind of leeway, or emotional understanding. Again, it's an AI, running its program.
Otherwise A+ for Real Sphene, now I really just hope that Real-Sphene remains a character with actual feelings, goals, emotions and good dialogue in scenes, and she doesnt get tempered by Wuk Lamat to worship her or give anykind of sympathy towards these AI jokers, aside from thanking them for keeping Alexandria alive and well.

The writing is going in a better direction, but I really hope it doesn't jump off the cliff with a dial towards the more childish storytelling in 7.3

I really liked it, although I found funny when IRL Sphene was like "OK I get the stealing souls from all the other realms but I draw a line at you recreating my friend".

I'm not gonna lie. After 7.0, I lost almost ALL my faith in the devs and their ability to keep writing good stories for this game.

This patch has returned to me a bit of that faith. They're treating the serious topics with the weight they deserve instead of the "sugar coat everything to make it less discomforting" crap they pulled in 7.0.

Wuk Lamat is doing what she SHOULD have been doing after she became Dawnservant. Largely staying the hell out of the way and tending to her "royal" duties. Giving the real Sphene far more time to shine, develop, and come into herself. I'm cautiously optimistic and looking forward to where they're gonna go with her character.

I really hope they keep up what they're doing with her because it's REALLY working for me.
