Ah yes. "Burning 5 minute beast tribe quests "too fast". "

Even with better shelf life, very little content is going to last nearly five months without a significantly improvement on quality or simply more content in general as Kaurhz said. So yes, the longer patch cycles are very much a problem.
Ironically, your mindset is more different than those you're criticising. You're "single-mindedly focused" on one part of the greater whole.
This argument really needs to die.
Even taken at a slow pace, most content in this game simply lacks any sort of longevity. Artificially stretching out it out doesn't change that fact. Take the 7.1 MSQ. It's roughly two hours, give or take. I still haven't finished it because I simply don't care after how underwhelming DT was. That doesn't make the MSQ suddenly a month's worth of content. I simply chose not to engage with it beyond unlocking the dungeon for a month.
fffff
180 usd (without retainers) yearly for 2-3 updates worth of 3 week of repetitive, lack of any kind of innovation content and 0 new zones, maps, modes etc?
Even 100% free to play Chinese gatchas gives you 10 times of high-quality content in half of a year than 2 full years of FFXIV.
It's a valid argument and it does need to be factored in. Even with content that is intended to last, people will burn through it. You would see people linking the latest relic step in Idyllshire first day back in Heavensward if it was something that wasn't limited (like a resource tied to a daily roulette) because they no-lifed so they could be first. There were people I saw who had everything you could possibly get from Chaotic the first week and they were happy because they were done and could stop burning through it to get what they wanted.
What peeves me is not the nuance of it partially being players fault for no lifing. Its that the blame gets lifted off completely from the poor "devs" who lack the resources to innovate when other MMO's and free to play games could. And having the gal to charge a monthly payment for it.
- hard challenges to get different weapon glams for jobs, beating hard solobosses for them.
- achievements that reward Spell Glams that change the look of your spells.
- gathering job = archeology like in WoW that would reward mounts, pets, glams, stories, legends. Add RNG TO THE GAME
Incentivizing people to read lore. Make it apart of the unending journal or whatever its called for hints and navigation. Deep sea diving arceology.
Airship housing, submarine housing, airship FC fights with partyfinder filler options to include everyone alĂ blue mage challenges. Forcing you to man cannons, throw bombs overboard and avoid falling.
Those are just four off the top of my head. But nah fam. Fates and hunts. Where is the innovation
I have no issues with such a long patch cyclus tbh, but like other people already said it cant be the case that you got 2-3h of content every 4-5 months, even if you raid you do the savage tier week 1 oder 2, then you do your reclears 1h each week and thats it, i said it so many times already to friends i have in a freaking daily based mobile game more to do on a daily base then in ffxiv which is a full grown ass MMORPG
The problem, as others have stated, isn't the longer patch cycle. It's getting a longer patch cycle while also getting a worse product out of the deal. You would expect more time to work would result in a better result, but that does not seem to be the case.
For example, we are starting to see quests where they just straight forgot to translate the text;

Yes, as if there isn't other content released in the patch that also takes 10-20 minutes. That builds up to where you can easily spend a few hours a day.
It won't. Because this "10 minutes here" and "20 minutes there" builds up to where you've then spent a few hours. And guess how long an average person has after work? Some of those people also have to juggle looking after children, maintaining their house and preparing food.
Naturally, the people who can spend all day for weeks will burn through it faster.
Absolutely this. I spent most of Heavensward very slowly completing the anima relic for a single job, because of the crystal sand step. Yet of course other people optimized and farmed all of the relics for all of the jobs and then complained of no content.
Only one I did farm really fast was the last steps. My eyes looked pretty red after farming ARF. Obviously not what they were intending you to do.
