It doesn't have to be televisions, use your imagination people.
It's a world of magic. Hell, One Piece uses SNAILS that transmit a video feed.

Why not instead of big screens, viewing portals or viewing pools or Mirrors which reflect that which you want to see. I think the Arena would be better as well, though I think if your being watched it can affect your performance unless in a huge group, so then I would recommend that a party or duo must agree to being displayed.
Magic snails, mirrors, and Television screen puddles aren't the issue...
Recording, Compressing, and Streaming video to everyone in Ul'dah at ~2mbs is why this won't work.
We will (hopefully) be able to watch players battle monsters/eachother in the Arena post 2.0, But for primal fights, we will have to watch recordings on Youtube like we do now.
Just stick to watching the replays on youtube :p

How about a cinema area with a screen so when a HNM is claimed, it shows who is fighting it. Would be good to see while waiting in town for shouts
As for the arenas, like Zantetsuken said, they could make it like FFXI's Pankration and have the fights take place in an open arena. This would be much easier then broadcasting live video, and there are already MMOs that have battles that take place in public areas like this.
I know it might not be possible guys but would be interesting if SE looked into the possibilty even if they looked at it for an hour and said "not possible". Then at least they tried and we know its not possible.
Again I know it would be very difficult/impossible. Just saying it "WOULD" be awesome!
ya, pretty sure I made a thread about that http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...hts-Should-be.
The weather tells you when a primal is available if you want to see other peoples fights there is a handy website known as Youtube.
i am sure they CAN do it.. but it would cause new server congestion >.<
