even with splits, you have to wait for 5 to 7 weeks in order to get all your tome item

Try the wow gearing system. Your job sucks for 6 months because the trinket you need never drops and there is no pity mechanic.

Just because wow's system is worse doesn't make this system good.

we shouldn't say "oh at least we don't have wow's system" we should acknowledge that gearing is still pretty flawed in this game. I don't know why I see this sentiment a lot with ff14 in particular.

1. join a static and be a DPS; you get gear with first priority to make bosses die faster
2. there are also books as rewards and now that M4S books can be converted to M1, M2 and M3 books, it's even easier to acquire gear.
