if a ps2 game could pull it off in what 2005 or something like that there isnt really an excuse for a 2024 game thats on high power pcs and ps5 now xbox systems that can emulator 3 ps2 games at same time with easy lol...

Honestly it wouldnt be that diffucult even the most simple thing with us recruiting npcs and using them in it with only our character joining, and role wise there what 2 -3 options Defender(goaly) launcher and tackler lol

Maybe some day.

I mean, that’s not what I want for Blitzball. I’d love a ranged phys Blitzballer job. We have a job where chakrams magically return to the dancer, so I don’t think an athlete with either an endless supply of balls or a magically returning ball is any less silly.

Gonna be frank: Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 didn't pull off Blitzball all that well in the first place. Despite Blitzball taking place within an enormous sphere of water, all the action happened on a simple 2D plane—you couldn't go up or down at all. So it was less "awesome fantasy sport" and more "blue-tinted soccer". And God only knows why, but when they brought it back for the sequel they not only removed player control from the mode entirely, they added a speed multiplier to the mode so you only had to spend a few seconds per match.

It was a chore in the game it was released in, and I don't blame the developers for getting cold feet after initially considering bringing it to FFXIV.

As someone who has never played blitzball the concept of adding it in this game intrigues me.

I really want people to shut up about this.

There has been a sizeable chance that we will get a blitzballer pranged job, which will be amazeballs.

But as Yoshi-P has said, he doesn't want to implement blitzball if it isn't the experience players wanted or remembered. So all you guys are doing is created an idea in his head that he can't even give you a Blitzballer job without you being disappointed and tearing it down for not being what you asked for.

He has already explained why blitzball can't really work as a mini-game. Accept it, and stop poisoning the well.

An issue with blitzball would probably also be latency issues, turning their pvp into pvping. Another thing is stop & start would have to be done away with to keep things moving, or at the very least put decisions on a timer to keep matches going. There would be the need for outfits for teams, and also if there are NPCs or Players. If they went the NPC route, that would open the possibility for the player to be more of a "coach" or "captain" and you would be going out to recruit, train, and pit teams and team comps against eachother. And if teams could go up against other player teams with that in mind, it would open up the inevitable metas for best team comps.

If the teams were strictly player teams, that would also open up to a potential variety of issues. For one, if players aren't always available and if there isn't someone that could be swapped in, would the teammate become an NPC? And what about team uniforms? The SHB instances have shown they have a means of temporarily having your character go into some kind of uniform until the event is over.

Just as players would get a lot more personal input and more immersive gameplay while opening up the possibility for drama or other sorts. You'd still have a bit of that stop and start along with latency issues while trying to make decisions; and the goalie would have barely anything to do other than catch ball and throw ball.

If they went with the NPC coach/captain route, it would be a lot more hands-off in that regard, maybe not as much latency issues, but would run the risk of becoming boring barely having any sort of input.

The PeluPelu tribal quest will be about setting up a Blitzball tournament in Tural. Calling it now! And it will be just like what happened at the end of the EW tribal quests, where something that could be a minigame was just a cutscene.
