To be fair though, when there is a cutscene dialogue that specificly mention WoL's name, it's usually not voiced, and it was likely done on purpose.
@title: Yes.
Yes, I would object it. I hate AI voices with a passion, it's soulless, and I never asked for my character to have voice acting.
The only case where I had a good experience with custom character having voice lines is in the game God Eater 1, where your character is also quiet the entire game for their voice lines, and only have grunts and laughs for emotes & combats. Then at the finale, they have every 1 single spoken line for climatic effect done with your chosen voice (and was acted by an actual voice actor of course).
I'd rather they do something like that, than having AI voices
The moment AI voices appear in FF14 is the moment my opinion of CBU3 go down, along with Square Enix
I would object, but having a narrator for all non-voiced dialogue/cutscenes would be nice.
Yes, I would object. Don't voice my character in the first place, and especially don't use gross uncanny AI to do it.
No dev on a AAA-quality game is going to implement dynamic AI voices in their game; if they want voices, they'll pay a voice actor to do the voices. Not only are those voices dependable, but they don't open the developer up to the potential for backlash/lawsuits during a time when AI artwork (I'm including voice work as a kind of art here) has yet to be fully litigated.
AI voiced cannot match the natural human voices yet as they cannot properly convey the nuance in speech, so they sound fake.
That would be worse than having a silent protagonist.
I would absolutely object- keep that generative garbage in the trash where it belongs.
Theft on a massive scale like that is never okay
