Starting Sage

I don't think anybody have touched upon this yet but... have you made sure your gear is updated? I remember the starting quest only gives you the left side of the gears & none from the right side.

Another thing to keep in mind was how janky trying to target NPCs in duties. It might be wise of you to have the NPC on your focus target so you can easily switch targets. AoE heals do hit NPCs in more recent expac duties but synced at lv70 you're going to have to ST heal that NPC more often if you're having any difficulty with that.

I just wanted to follow up on this - thanks to everyone for the advice. I ended up running several low-level dungeons using Duty Support to get a good handle on the fundamentals. I did finish the Sage's Focus quest today, doing those low-levels helped a lot. I did also have to keep the NPC focus targeted, but I already have plenty of practice using focus targeting from when I leveled up WHM. I do still think that quest is a bit tough for a tutorial but done is done. Thanks again!

Glad to hear you're enjoying SGE, if I wasn't addicted to SCH it would probably be my main healer haha.

it excels at preemptive damage prevention, but it suffers a shortage of emergency recovery when things go wrong, you have to constantly stay oon top of your shield being kept up on the tank, or you are spending all your CDs to recover, and then lacking them when you need them later

This is 100% not how you play SGE

SGE is functionally a regen healer, SGE relies on silent mitigation and constant regen ticks to keep the tank healthy, it almost never actually relies on shields

maybe in savage once you are playing with people with a brain cell, but leveling it and running dungons your dps heal tic wont keep up the drk that thinks mitigation is a dps loss..

I mean offering advice that amounts to “this is how you heal the worst tank in existence” is actively bad for explaining how a class truly works

And I don’t just mean kardia, you should be relying on kerechole and physis

and youre offering no advice at all, just acting like a stuck up elitist, but thats not the case as you dont even know the stat weights for a healer based on how your gear looks..
i'm sure you view on only Kardia healing works out great when you run your trial roulette..
also what the heck is a "silent mitigation" you mean a shield? or are you talking about a 30 second cd (Kerachole) being your core rotation?
and what regen tic are you even talking about? maybe your using Druochole between Dyskrasia spam but neither of those are a regen..

why not actually help instead of fishing for a gotcha moment?
i swear your comment is like saying Scholar rotation is just letting your fairy spam cure1..

What? I know my gear is a mess, you know why, because I’m not doing savage this expansion, so I’m running entirely with casual gear, I know I have too much piety, but ilvl outweighs excluding piety on all but the ring (which as you can see I’m wearing a weaker ring to exclude piety) talk about fishing for a gotcha while accusing others of it

And as I have said your core healing from SGE comes from a combination of the tick on kardia, the tick on kerechole and the tick on physis (3 regens) along with kerechole’s silent 10% mitigation (ie not a shield because you can’t see it as anything besides a buff),

Unless your tank is literal wet tissue paper then those three together should be plenty for healing most content, taurochole is a second line of defence, your other main means of healing would be krasis+haima and panhaima if the pull is fast and physis is still on CD

I’m not trying to get a gotcha you are just offering bad advice, especially since you don’t seem to know that “tick” refers to a regen tick in this case

a regen usually refers to a H.o.T. not a server tick from a drict action causing a heal. I.E. regen the whm ability for instance, if its a heal based on your direct action its just a heal, kardia healing is not a regen, its a direct reflection of your own damage actions. a regen is something that happens after applied regardless of what actions you take after initiating said skill.

also kerechole is not a silent mitigation, its a specific 10% mitigation whit a regen (you know an actual one) that mitigation is its base effect and use, its not a byproduct of its action.

maybe at least learn the terminologies that are used in every mmo for the last 30 years before you start lecturing everyone else on them.
