We didn't cannibalize anything. Crystal, primal and dynamis decided on their own that we were the content data center.

Alot of us on aether would rather ppl raid on their own data centers. I would love to see savages and ultimates only be allowed to be run on your home data center. Even new extremes.

Just keep other Content to be run cross DC for the sanity of dynamis

Neither you nor I speak for our respective datacenters. The people aren't to blame. It's the idea that Aether is this golden paradise mixed with SquareEnix's incompetence when it comes to feature implementation is to blame.

When I said that, it was more dramatic hyperbole than anything.

There's nothing to worry about. I'm not blaming you or your datacenter in particular.

Anyone who pays attention to what the community says knows that other dcs consider us the content DC. It's not squarely on the devs. They didn't implant the idea. It just that we got the rep over time and when ppl started flooding, then word spread more.

Just like crystal got the rep for being the rp data center. Devs didn't decide this. Players did.

Either way, the developer's gave the players the tools to abuse what they are now. Regardless of what the players say or do.

Mao curious. Why peoples so wantings come to Adamantoise? Mao here because friends here. Mao seeing awful lots peoples coming from elsewhere to join in on hunts trains though. Hunts trains gettings too big!

All the problems with the other DCs being slower for both DF and PF would be solved if party leader functions like setting up a PF listing and enter a DF queue could only be executed by people on their home DC. This would allow people to travel to another DC to play with their friends who are natives of that DC but would not allow people to travel to other DCs only to end up playing with a group entirely comprised of members from their home DC.

Between systemic issues and the fact that XIV never created reasons to have players create and build up server based communities, IE FC benefits and benefits from being on your own server, I'd say yes. I just make sure my bags are cleaned out and my retainers are full before heading over for rouls and PF, as much as I'd want to be able to play on Dynamis, that DC is dead until further notice.

I don't mind DC travel, but it should be more so to visit friends and not to have a place to aggregate/congregate for raiding raiding and other activities. The obvious solution is to make it so PF and queuing is possible no matter the DC. But who knows when they'll have the tech for that.

No Aether is considered the DC for savage raiding and high end content and this came from the historic breaking of the server data centers ages ago, which stranded a lot of folks on Balmung and Crystal. The communities got split and the DC travel opened things back up again. What is happening right now is that there was a dramatic drop in active players due to content drought and the remaining players are gathering at Aether so they stand a chance at doing what little content there is.

The major issue with Aether's population is the expectations people have for savage and end game content. On Crystal people were far less mercenary than Aether and during the peak of raiding, people were jumping around between statics like they were trying on pairs of pants. I actually kind of wish we weren't all stuck having to do the same content just to get BIS because if this tier taught me anything, its that SE is not particularly good at figuring out what proper difficulty is. Social problems happen in MMOs when content gets too difficult and people have to start pushing too much time into the game.

They just really need to implement crossDC party finder. Then people can stay where they want, get their FC buffs and other stuff, but still participate with friends.

To OP, I don't think the grass is greener. If anything, it's grossly over fed with the mirage of being green.
This all feeds on the idea that people at all times want to be connected to the largest available population of people so that they have the best chances of queing, PFing, RPing, house communities, markets, socializing, etc.
SE allowed this and the gaming population just continue to propagate the idea. Dynamis is easily the biggest example of this with its DF being complete dead. But that even Primal PF was affected ? yeah.

The weird thing is that YoshiP is always saying in regards to housing that he didn't want to instance it because he liked the idea of that physical housing community.
Yet, we have this DC situation where Primal/Dynamis DF or PF community is now non existent and we exist on Aether as temporary NPCs.

Irony is it was entirely player created. Before everyone started moving at once, you could do all these things on your own datacenter, but then people got greedy, and the culture changed.
