RP shout ads are obstructive to chat and gameplay

As much as I dislike it too, it's not hurting anyone nor obstructing gameplay. Just ignore it and let people enjoy things - be it in their roleplaying.
As someone who AFKs in towns a lot, I don't mind it and I am used to it.
If I want peace and quiet, I'd hang in my house or somewhere quiet like Sharlayan.

They would just post their two ads per day on that board and go back to spamming PF and shouts. No amount of alternative means for their ads are going to stop the shout spam unless the GMs start banning people for it, which I don't see ever happening.

Jokes aside, there's not much they can do. You can blacklist the spammer, but that's not going to stop it. I got nothing against RP or venues, but you guys are obnoxious with your venue spam. Something needs to happened whatever it is. Giving them their own channel will just have both be spammed.

Maybe word filtering in chat, but I could see people getting around it. Again, venue spam is obnoxious.

I mean ... I don't really wanna crap on people about it, but it's overwhelming that so many people have just abruptly taken over a specific chat channel to the point that many turn it off entirely, when it was commonly used for so many different reasons. Really just need a way that our peeps can advertise their stuff without flooding chat. It might require a brand new feature, but yeah.. something's gotta change.

It's at the point now, when people use shout chat for things that aren't ads, they're told to keep shout chat clear of banter so advertising can go uninterrupted, that people need to move their convo to tell or yell (half jokingly)

The BL has 200 entries. So almost all venue spammers should fit on it. I have waaaaaay more emote spammers on it. :)

As someone who was taken advantage of online as a teenager, I'm sorry your daughter was targeted. Unfortunately I don't think you can escape being exposed to age inappropriate stuff, MMOs targeting kids can be just as bad or worse. I would prefer having an RP tab as well, though.

I think you're better off having a frank discussion with her about internet safety, but also let her know if she gets into trouble she can still talk to you. I consider it a good sign she felt comfortable talking to you.

And, of course, that /shout text you see in "general" chat can be redirected to a separate chat channel or removed/blocked entirely. The same goes for the /tell text. Take control of your chat box.

Just turn off shout chat. I mean, that's all you can do. It's not like Discord hasn't already killed chat anyway. You're not gonna be missing much.
