Feedback: Feeling disappointed by 6.55's narrative, and thus unsure about Dawntrail

I think stories that deal with time travel are always treading on super shaky ground. It is so hard to get it right and create a prefect loop...Unfortunately I believe the story failed on that one. But it was enjoyable nonetheless.

And reincarnation is a new life, not the same as before, your old life died.

Is it living when all your loved ones and memories are erased. If I wiped your brain to nothing and you were born again it's not really you, someone else just grew up in your stead. This is also a cloning argument, just because someone has the same source material doesn't mean a clone isn't a separate entity because of their experiences and recollections.

Emet Selch sure thought everyone was dead too. So they didn't think they were living TBH.

I don't understand the complaint, this is basically what she said isn't it?
We are going to Tural to scout out what's happening there, see what the other potential candidates are all about and then presumably pick one we're sticking with.

As a direct consequence of the one individual with knowledge of the approaching Final Days refusing to reveal that knowledge in order to mitigate the devastating loss of life and need for sacrifices in the first place. Furthermore, Zodiark was in himself a necessity due to the dire state that Etheirys was left in due to the Final Days rendering the planet unfit for habitation.

He factors into Venat's plans both before and after the Sundering as an absolute necessity though his existence is exploited not for the benefit of the Ancients but the Sundered who exist at their expense.

It is not incorrect, the Ancients ceased to exist as a species, society and culture as a result of the Sundering. Venat herself, when confronted for her test through battle, specifically refers to herself as the 'last of her kind'.

The Sundered are a completely different form of existence rather than direct descendants.

Remember that people were disappointed with 4.55 and were unsure about Shadowbringers. Look at what that brought you.

I wad under the impression that part of what made ShB so good was being a relatively self contained story. That and it's literally an isekai. If they can pull off a similar vibe with simply sailing across the sea then I'm down.

I wish that were true, but the words spoken don't indicate that:

So she wants her answer before leaving Sharlayan. And as I wrote in my initial post, you give it to her.

Who? Actually who, because not only do I consider 4.55 actual peak XIV, when I was in Vegas during Fanfest, everyone I talked to outside the venue (couldn't go in that year, was in the area for other reasons), was absolutely thrilled about everything XIV, both before, and after the reveal of Shadowbringers. Online, was at worst skeptical I guess, but it's not like it wasn't being foreshadowed (ha) that something entirely different was happening as soon as the first Call happened.

If you said to me "The time of Stormblood and pre-Shadowbringers was filled of more uncertainty than Endwalker and pre-Dawntrail" I'm sorry, but I'd be...incredibly skeptical at best, at least from my perspective anyway. This is an awful time for my XIV groups right now.

Hmmm that's not a fair statement as it would require knowing for a fact what reincarnation and it's experience is...though the fact the game shows at various points some semblance of memory retention by the various NPC's suggests it's not just a whole new life.

As I touched on a previous quote above - This depends on theological ideologies that can't be proven one way or another...However considering the Ascians entire goal was to achieve The Rejoining means the previous state of life can be restored to it's original state...Therefore, the sum of what makes up said original state still exists within the new world - Therefore, life in the new world is not wholely new.
