Insult to injury: aesthetics of healer gear

Saw someone already got the IS outfit on Reddit and my first thought was "when a mammet's outfit looks more WHM than actual WHM robes" ...why is it that difficult to imagine a magic user wearing pants!?

Fair point. Rephrasing: why is it that difficult to imagine a magic user not wearing a towel covering 90% of their body!?

The same men's office trousers and black shoes or sandals over and over again. At least the new 24 man top is somewhat separate from the skirt.

Tbh if I didn't know better i'd assume that's a krile inspired WHM Set.

A lot of the frustration around healer glamour could be absolved if we could see role restrictions removed from the glamour system, i.e. being able to glamour a striking or fending piece to a healing piece and wear that. I know there'd still be a desire to see more gear intended for healers that isn't always 50 shades of nun, but there's no reason to gatekeep glamour options just because that piece can't normally be worn by a job. It has no influence on stats.

It is, sort of. Not directly based on Krile but coming from the same source – the costume for the Devout job, which becomes the basis for FFV Krile's WHM gear, which becomes FFXIV Krile's outfit.

And then separately they've used the Devout job costume for the furball, and then given that costume to us.

So yes, we are essentially getting the healer outfit that Krile is wearing, but not because it's hers.

i always thought it was closer to the classic Mime outfit, or a reference to FFTA2's Seer job (which tbf is itself probably a devout design reference)

It's been a hot minute, but I had brought up some of the different outfits found on Genshin healers before, and there's a new character coming out next week who is some form of healer/support character. We don't know to what extent she can heal, only that she does provide some amount of healing as well as provides support for the Overload reaction, a combination of the Pyro(Fire) and Electro(Thunder) elements. Her outfit definitely stands out amongst traditional healers:
