Would be nice to have my companion fight along side me again.

I do like the Chocobo fighting along side too. Though gonna feel strange having my Chocobo change class/job for me.

I suspect they decided on the Chocobo filling that role, atleast for now, because if you use companions you would probably need to:

Write dialogue for them, Chocos' just "Wark!"
Possibly give them some sort of reactions when doing quest type stuff, Choco just "Wark!"
Re-write/redesign X number of companions, Chocobos would entail possibly less animations. WIng flap with lights = Cast. Peck and scratch = attack. Peck and scratch Plus lighting = Weapon skill.

And possibly since the Chocobo is yours, your steed, pet and friend, there no real reason to have a storyline which they leave for a period of time. But are then summoned for a 4 man when your a person short. This way if they DO include our Companions. They can do some fairly FF-like Group of heros split up and meet later, kind of stories.

I liked mine when he was a timid little momma's boy. But then he got all brave and was as boring as any ol' NPC... :/

I was hoping to have a buddy cop thing going on with a Hellsguard mage, but he turned out to be dully written and programmed with useless AI, so I'm not eager to see him back.
