You do understand the Armoury System, don't you? I mean, equip "Black Mage" spells in order to play as a Black Mage or "White Mage" in order to play as a White Mage... Once more, develop your character and play the way you want to.

FFXIV AMs are not FFXI AMs (atm at least). I guess they are useless for leves rushing / behests and things like that, but maybe you could find them useful at NM fightings. On the other hand, I'm not telling that they are awesome, that's for sure.
I agree on the lack of animation part.

Ya in respect of using AM's during NM fights you certainly could but I can think of better ways to lose 100MP (like randomly clicking all my other spells for no apparent reason). I'd waste the time using them at half what they cost now and sometimes do when I accidentally click spiritbind... not worth more than that.

I think that was a typo, we are already on patch 1.16 lol. they might have meant 1.17a

They do have an effect, it's just not going to completely negate damage like people feel it should. A community rep I believe commented on it that it's more of a discussion rather than bug as Yoshida commented that they just need to tweak calculations but it isn't broken.

I can't believe anyone mentioned the exp, sp gain in sidequests monsters :D

That is a huge fix and I remember so many people raging about it << where are they now? lol
