I’m going to keep writing in this thread hoping it gets some attention :/ I’m surprised there aren’t more people running into this issue, I guess there’s not that many mac users?
Anyway, from a reddit thread I found, it seems like the devs updated something in the game that makes it more compatible with the newer macs, but in return incompatible with the older models. Now the game runs perfectly well natively on M1s and M2s.
As for now the devs seem to be completely ignoring this issue which is frankly quite disappointing. Unless they try to fix it, seems like the only other solution is to buy a new computer. Nice.
Same with me...patch has not addressed problem.
Support people please have the common decency to respond to the issues.
I was checking the macOS spec here; they recently updated this for the new version.

Recommended M1 or 2020 model higher now. Looks like you may have to upgrade your hardware at this point now.
Currently running on M1 Pro fine here.
What about the "XIV on Mac"? https://www.xivmac.com/my-mac-suppor...atibility-list
Looks like your hardware is beyond too old now. It's 10 years old 2013 MacBook Pro laptop = 20 years old desktop equivalent. Time to move on.
It is, and I know it.
But as I said in an earlier post, I was expecting this day to come. I just find it a bit frustrating that the devs didn't mention anything about suddenly upgrading the game so it completely refuses to run on older machines. Despite its age, my mac ran the game just fine before the patch. I would have liked a bit more warning.
Anyway, the price point of macbook pros these days is ridiculous, especially if you want a model that will be time-proof and will rival with gaming laptops.
So I've decided to purchase a good gaming laptop for half the price of macbook pro, and that will be able to natively run other games than FFXIV. My long standing loyalty to Apple ends here. XD
I didn't know there was a post about this already. But yes! I am also having the same problem. I just thought it was my internet connection (i have AT&T) but that issue resolved itself somehow. But I also have a Mac and it's running on Big Sur 11.7.7. I thought the minimum is Big Sur 11.1 even for the older macs.
