Materia DC and DC travel.

To be frank, I'm not sure if the same situation wouldn't have occured if SE has set up SEA servers instead of Oceania.

Most English speaking players in Elemental have their roots there and it would be hard to convince the majority of them to give up their friends/community to move servers even if they are set up in SEA instead of Oceania.

Imo, Oceania on the whole is just poorly planned and unfortunately the Oce community had to suffer as a result.

This is the other sad reality, some people have been on JP for just under 9 years at the launch of Materia.
its hard to move away from friends after that long.

The only other option was moving Tonberry and Kujata to the new DC, but that would have sparked outrage from the SEA and JP playerbase on those servers.

They should have done it... you just don't create a new DC and let it flounder. At the least SE get off your butt and implement DC travel for Materia for English speaking regions and keep your precious Japan servers isolated. They created the problem and they need to fix it sooner than later.

And I will add the real outrage is creating a DC that is dysfunctional. I don't give a hoot about the outrage on servers that should have been moved to begin with. Since they didn't have the backbone to do what was needed they need to act now and fix the issue with data center travel.

basically how i felt before packing up, throwing away a large house and moving back to civilization.

I miss the ping, but what good is ping if the game isn't playable.

You weren't in ward 16 sub were you in Empty? There was a large house there that was sold and they left. I suspect they left the DC for similar reasons as yours.

Originally a FC ward that went private so I bought my private right next to my FC. Someone who had bought that house did a wonderful job with the garden and the interior was going very well and it was obvious the person was awesome at glitching and interior deco but one day I logged in and the house was gone. It took quite sometime for someone else to buy it and they've put up a Candy Cane skin which looks awesome from my view looking across the ward.

After all this time only 8 houses have been sold with many mediums and smalls just sitting there looking for owners.

Ward 24 P42 Empy, was disappointing to go from that to a small, but managed to snag a large on Dynamis

I've brought this up on this forum before, about SEA not being recognized by SE and the possibility their data on the population may be incorrect. Got argued with by someone saying "SE isn't that stupid, they'd look at IP addresses". Well...do we really know? No, we do not.

However, if Materia had opened with the ability to region travel, like they had mentioned, no one would have had to give up anything. Except the 6 - 7 hour login queues Tonberry had on Endwalker launch. SEA and OCE could have moved to better ping, alleviated login queues and maintained their decade old communities. But "no foreigners". And here we are.

This post really shows some serious entitlement. Who gave OCE ownership over Tonberry and Kujata in the first place? Last time I checked, they're marked as JP worlds. You want to force the SEA+JP base to be transplanted to OCE to pad your population without any regard to their feelings? Just suck it up and just pad your population, eh? Get out of here with that gross entitlement.

I agree that Materia needs help, but showing such a gross attitude isn't going to get more people to support your cause.

There was solid reasoning behind doing this, but i can tell you the SEA ping to OCE is worse than to JP so they would have just moved back instantly.

The single biggest problem was putting the servers in australia instead of centralizing in the SEA/OCE region and making it accessible to everyone.
