The mode itself is unfun to play, and it becomes "too unfun" when playing ranked mode with no rewards or anything to grind for (unless going for rank 1).

The mode is fun enough the problem is casual and ranked are exactly the same apart from rating and the lack luster reward structure. Five random people vs five random people is cool until you expect a reasonable level of competition. Random groups in comp modes are never a good idea. Imagine picking 5 players in any sport at random regardless of position skill etc. and jamming them together. How is that not supposed to frustrate? Sweet I'm on offense and I got all wide receivers/ or /goalies/ or /power forwards... laughable.

In ranked mode you should get matched with people that have a smiliar rank than you. That way you can filter the skill to the ranks. At least to a certain point.
