Im really not, just looking for the plausibility of alt or duplicate accounts for bots. They're like cockroaches, its very hard to get rid of their infestation even when you report one.

They said they are tracking the items that get bought so that if you bought them and they find out it was RMT, they can delete the items bought through RMT. That does affect the buyer because now they know there is a risk they could be wasting their money if the items are later deleted.
Just in case you're not aware, to be a shill you need to be paid by a company/individual or have an actual close personal relationship with them. Just, pointing that out since a lot of people having been using the word incorrectly lately.
Second, RMT bots should absolutely be banned but how would you suggest it be done? They can easily make multiple accounts without batting an eyelash and bypass IP bans with VPNs or getting a new IP address all together which really does not take much effort. How do you actually cut off the problem?
Genuine question cause I'm actually curious if anyone knows a real solution.
Those guys that have been Glitter Bombing scammers have been doing a decent job in at least shutting down their operations for a time. So far nothing permanant but it does bring a smile to my face seeing them freak out. So maybe something along those lines? Just a dedicated group who legit hack and find their operations base and sends them naughty gifts?
They're just a small indie company that can barely afford to keep the lights on! How dare you assume they have the ability to do anything more than band-aid fixes?! Shame on you! /s
I would very much like Yoshi to address the entire botting issue in depth both during a live letter and via one of his lodestone posts.
It honestly feels like they have put it in the too hard/not profitable enough basket.
Lazy.
"They don’t owe us ANYTHING. The sub for this game is cheaper than Netflix. Yoshida pours his blood, sweat and tears into this game and we pay pennies in exchange. I think we should be grateful that we’re getting anything at all. This isn’t Blizzard that we’re talking about here, this is Square Enix. They’re doing what they can with the small amount of resources that they have."
Did someone actually say that? Yikes. Like I can give developers some slack on some things but that was damn near cultish speak.
Yes, but I choose to believe the original statement was satire. Funniest thing about it though is that I've encountered someone (VelKallor) who apparently agrees with that statement '10000%'.
he doesnt need to "impose restrictions" he needs to have a competent team, not the STF since they have proven they cant do anything meaningful, and they need to start account actions on BUYERS.
screw the botting, if the market dries up the bot problem will sort itself out. all they are doing now, is going after the symptom, not the cause.
ban the people who buy gil. period. stop dinking around with the low hanging fruit. they own the servers, they own the data, they have zero excuse NOT to be able to do this. they can track the money, and if you start giving a vacation to real people, and then ban them for a second offense, that sends a better message than banning thousands and thousands of throw away accounts.
