Please don't harass people for ignoring/disliking the story

I assume you're replying to me and I see that perspective but also can see why someone would drop their opinion about the game in here considering its literally a thread about disliking the story lol. People are gonna insert their opinions regardless of if it's a good time or not, how you react is what matters.

But nobody asked for that opinion regarding that topic. Calling that out is perfectly natural.

Harassing ? No, looking down on those filthy peasants with the highest degree of disdain ? Yes !

No one will give a shit if you're skipping anyway unless you're literally advertising it like "I'm skipping the story, it sucks, everything you like sucks and i hate it ! ... why you harassing me ? ;'((("

I'll add that harassing is against tos so if it's a real thing which i highly doubt, you can report people that do so.

And you're just doing the same thing I was getting on the other person's case about. This has nothing to do with my initial question of how the subject of skipping even came up to warrant this alleged bullying. I was very polite in that initial question and related a story of a friend who likes to skip. I simply wanted to know more about that specific situation. We certainly see enough complaints about the story and all that. I have no problem with people not liking the story. I have a problem with that being jammed into a conversation where it doesn't belong.

Is it really that hard to imagine? Something as simple as "I have no idea what's going on but it looks cool" in the middle of a fight or someone making an innocuous comment or joke about the story only for the other person to not get it is all it takes to spark a conversation about this. Back when Shadowbringers was new just seeing Amaurot for the first time was enough for some people who usually skipped all the cutscenes to get interested in the story and the lore, so naturally they'd ask questions about it and have to explain they skipped the cutscenes up to that point.
I know in the past I myself have given people crap for skipping cutscenes but now that I'm older and (hopefully?) wiser I know to just let them be and let them enjoy the game however they see fit.
Everyone has things they don't enjoy, I personally don't like crafting at all and any time someone tells me I should do it for this or that reason I'll just tell them that it's simply an aspect of the game I don't enjoy and I'll live with the empty gil purse for the rest of my days.

Most harassment I've seen others get for bringing up story skipping is usually in the memes crying about story skippers. Which in turn only exist because it's the easiest way to farm likes and clout in this community. I love social media tribalism and dumb "culture" wars.

I imagine that they will make a lot of money with Endwalker skips once 7.0 comes out. For various reasons.

They didn't say the story was bad though. They said the gameplay mechanics of the story were bad, "there's a difference". They even said they enjoyed the story. Deveryn said it seemed odd to go through the game with a skip and missing out on context, and that person's response was one of however many possible explanations for why someone might skip and not have said context. You guys getting all hostile over it is freaking mind boggling, and then justifying it with "butting into the conversation" is just downright silly considering both this is a public forum where people can state their thoughts and it was related to the topic and what a poster said.

I don't care if people skip the story or do a level skip.

But if they start saying that the story is shit or something along the lines that they read a synopsis or watched a lore video then they deserve to be harassed, keep your opinions to yourself.

While I suspect this is a few people that bullied you being exaggerated to some "alarming number of people", report it and move on. If nothing else, thank you for putting more money than you needed to into the game's development.

Whatever it is you ARE doing, are you having fun in the game? If yes, then you're doing it right. It's nobody's place to tell you your fun is wrong. And it sounds like you aren't telling other people that THEIR fun is wrong, so yeah- report the bullies and block 'em. You don' t need that nonsense.
