The entire thing is about setting up your robot factory for min-max efficiency in churning out a bland currency for rewards.
There are no minigames or fun interactions or little projects to do or anything that's designed to be fun. It's all about efficiency.
It boggles my mind that you and YoshiP think "wander around aimlessly and look at it" is 4 months worth of enjoyable content.
How dare SE, implement something that encourages people to step away and take a break, instead of going on auto-pilot and staying logged in 24/7!?!?!?!???
It's almost like they care.
I have to laugh at people saying "this isn't for min-maxxers" "touch grass", as if the entire system wasn't designed FOR min-maxxers. With how complex the productivity system is, and how easy it is to not be efficient, min-maxxers have completely "solved" the Island and are now enjoying all of the rewards, while saving thousands of cowries a week and will be so far ahead of the "intended audience" for the Island when the next update comes.
But I guess I can walk around mindlessly gathering stuff?
This right here, so very much.
If this system were actually designed for a more leisurely and casual approach, something simple like a Harvest Moon style drop-off box you just put things in with regular intervals for payouts without the market simulation aspect, it would have served the goal much better, with production of items shifted directly onto the player too. If we had that I could buy that line of thought, but not as currently implemented.
As someone whose played quite a lot of these sorts of games were you farm and rear animals and gather items from the map etc, this reward structure and way of progressing is pretty far from what makes them tick when done well.
Yes, you can. You don't even have to gather. You can just walk around. You can also choose to not even walk around and just look around at the scenery. You can choose not to look around and just listen to the music and ambient sound effects with your eyes closed.
Does no one understand the concept of "relax" these days?
In the end, the content is what you make of it. Instead of focusing on one very specific portion of the content and telling yourself that's all there is, try looking at all of it including the ability to "touch grass" for a change.
If you're incapable of seeing that there are more things to do, I feel sorry for you. It's a sad life when you're unable to recognize the little pleasures that are available.
Ultimately, you are the architect of your own happiness - or your own misery - when it comes to playing a game. If you're not enjoying the content, be good to yourself and choose something else to do that you will enjoy. The content isn't going to suddenly change to make you happy and the game has plenty of content options to choose from.
you get 2 days off from work, you think they dont deserve it or what?
its their right
mammet lifes matter
I feel like you're just purposely ignoring the issue here. the design of the entire Island goes against the concept of just "relaxing". Of course people can just completely ignore everything that the island is telling you to do and just walk around doing nothing, we could always do that in-game as it is.
Also, really? pulling out the "I feel sorry for you"? Stop the gaslighting, no one is buying it.
