You’re one of the players I’m referring to that no-life it and are now gatekeeping. I can’t take any opinion you have seriously. You offer little to no understanding of the discussion.

Heck I’ll freely admit the system could be better, this is why i try to stay an expansion behind on mount farming. I dont want the 99 grind again and my luck is that bad that i would have to do 99 for all 3 current mounts.
But thats no solution, so yes something could be done to look at how ex mounts are awarded
Maybe not 99 times, but I do actually enjoy a number of the fights, especially at level. I got lucky on Zodiark and picked it up on my 15th run. I kept going for a few more after winning and did some more later on. I got my 100 from Endsinger and still pop in now and again. I'll do these on different jobs to keep things interesting.
I would be up for a solution of 7 patches after an EX, the totem requirement drops to 50 for buying the mount
Lets be honest after clearing the fight 20 times, chances are you're already good at it. Any more than that is just brainless repetitive task, its not even fun anymore. I dont like it personally. My suggestion is to make it so that if the mount drop (still a low chance), every player that clicks the chest automatically gets it in their inventory, it works the same as books in savage raids.
That way the content will actually become more fun for everyone. No more salt for losing rolls and the drop chance is still low enough that you have to do it multiple times. But it wont be so bad as collecting 99 totems and once it drops everybody is happy.
I know that I can have an odd way of looking at things sometimes, but I basically go into an EX trial with the mindset that the mount is more of an achievement reward for defeating the boss 99 times. That doesn't stop me from rolling for the mount if it drops. I do have my own personal rule that I never roll for the mount until after I have learned the fight, which usually takes me about 10 runs or so to really get down all the mechs.
What I can say is don't grind those totems. If you're already at 50+ or something like that, it might be time to consider taking a step back. Squeeze in a run here and there if you see a promising PF, but start doing other things for awhile, or abandon it completely and just come back to it another time. You could also go back to doing the fight with those needing to clear it to help them out. Who know, perhaps RNG will reward your service to help others get their clears.
