It's not offensive per se. Just say "woman" or "girl". Usually people who use "females" like we're some sort of animal are... suspicious to say the least.

I'm a guy, but if people just called me a 'male' all the time then I'd find that strange so I think I understand it.

Something can technically be correct but just feel overly clinical.
