I support this thread!
It would make me accidentally invite a person instead of /tell. Just make it a drop-menu it would be easier. For more good reasons about a drop-menu that can do more than just invite and /tell.
For the PS3 version, they don't have to but since the PS3 can support both keyboard and mouse last I tested so why not?
I definitely like this idea, but like others have said, there's an issue with PS3 users. If I went to PS3, I don't want to use a keyboard and mouse and pretend like I'm still on a PC. I want to use my controller like I'm on my PS3, just get the mini keyboard deal you can buy for the controller to chat with. So if this actually happened, a player on the PS3 should be able to link using their controller and not have to use a keyboard/mouse. It wouldn't be fair otherwise.
Reason for my saying this is because I enjoy FFXIV as a console-style MMO, and what I mean by that is one where the mouse isn't needed. Honestly to me it seems like a big hassle to use, especially in this game at the moment where the only use of a mouse I've found is adjusting the camera.
Also, these are just my opinions so no need in flaming me for my thoughts ...
I support this as well. I have been playing Tera and its nice to link gear and it even shows what crystals(materia) are attached to your gear. I know quests put a ? on your map but Id like to see a <point of interest> feature so if a player clicks on it it will put a mark on your map letting you know this is where camp is or for other purposes.
Aion has this and its awesome. I approve =D can we have the other feature where you can share map locations too?
I support the OP. This needs to be added!
I'm glad to see the unanimous approval for a so-far-theoretical, future implementation of this feature, which I feel is one of the most blatant absences in this game's UI. It would be very nice to have the reply of a moderator on this.
Thank you for the support.

It should definatly have this feature. EQ2 did it nicely and they even went one step further, when someone got a rare drop it would say something in guild chat like "Kyra Narese has received the Darklight Heavy Armor Body" and it was great, you could mouse over the link to check its stats (which would also show you your body armor your wearing and auto compare it) and grats the person who got the drop.
We dont actualy have guilds in this game atm though, we have linkshells and they are just glorified ways to socialise with other players. Linkshells have not even 1% of the features a proper guild should have. Hopefully Free companies will be better. Sorry to go off topic.
